Days of our Lives Recap May 22: Gabi Confesses to Xander; Jack Reaches Out to Gwen

TL;DR: In today’s Days of our Lives recap, Steve and Kayla reminisce (to celebrate Mary Beth Evans’ 40th Anniversary on DAYS) before their trip to China. Jack pays a surprise visit to Gwen to let her know he wants to rebuild their relationship. Gabi confesses to Xander how she screwed over his father’s company, leading to a tense confrontation.

Days of our Lives Recap May 22

At the pub, Steve and Kayla took a walk down memory lane (to celebrate Mary Beth Evans’ 40th anniversary on the show) while they prepared to go to China.

Meanwhile, Stephanie also got organized for the trip. Alex started telling her how much he missed her before she even left.  Alex and Stephanie went to the pub and joined Steve and Kayla, and they did more reminiscing with Roman.

Jack stopped by the pub and gave an envelope to Steve to give to Tripp. He said he and Jennifer wanted to give him money to help him start his new life off right.

Jack Visits Gwen

Gwen assumed it was Xander knocking at her door, so she was even more surprised to see Jack. After some awkward conversation, Jack told Gwen that Chad had told him she had divorced, moved out of the DiMera mansion, and believed he had room in his heart for only one daughter.

Jack assured her that he thought about Abigail daily, but he also wanted to have a meaningful relationship with Gwen. Gwen was unsure what it all meant when Jack admitted that Jennifer didn’t know he was there.

Jack said he would talk to his wife but wanted Gwen to know that she was wanted and loved. He told her to tell him the same thing so he knew she heard him, and she said it back to him through tears.

Jack told Gwen he knew they couldn’t rebuild their relationship quickly but said he really did want to try. “That makes two of us,” Gwen cried. 

Gabi Confesses to Xander

Xander went to the Kiriakis mansion and told Gabi he was moving in because of the water damage at his place. She told him she was moving out and explained why she and Philip had broken up.

Gabi explained in detail how she’d screwed over his father’s company. She told him to scream and yell at her and threaten to kill her because she deserved it.

Xander was seething but chose to employ his new anger management skills as he growled his rage and asked questions. He admitted that in the same position, he would have done the same thing but said not to take that as a compliment.

Gabi told him that Tony offered her the CEO position again, but she turned him down. She said she couldn’t trust Tony, but more than that, she didn’t want to hurt the people who had treated her so well.

Before Gabi left, Xander told her that his new, improved version of himself prevented him from doing physical harm, but make no mistake at the grudge he’d be holding over her.

Gabi understood, and apologized again, noting that when she got her inheritance, she planned to help Titan financially. After she left, Xander got a call from Gwen, but Sarah walked in and saw him, so he said it wasn’t a good time and hung up. Sarah was shocked when he told her that he was moving back in.
