Days of Our Lives Recap June 9: Stephanie Fires at Joy, EJ Sends Gwen to catch Xander and Kristen

TL;DR: In today’s Days of our Lives recap, while Kristen and Xander attempt to conceal their secret affair from a suspicious Gwen, a sleeping pill-induced haze turns dangerous for Stephanie, when she shoots at Joy, thinking she’s an intruder.

Days of our Lives Recap June 9

When Gabi and EJ saw Kristen and Xander canoodling in the square before going into the Salem Inn together, Gabi wondered if Gwen knew Xander was cheating. EJ said they had an open situationship.

Gabi maintained that as Gwen and Kristen were friends, she’d be upset, but EJ claimed it was Gabi’s responsibility to tell her. She refused to be involved and said Gabi would figure it out on her own.

Gwen Plots Her Hospital Takeover

Meanwhile, Gwen got a text from Dimitri letting her know her time was coming. Then she saw Leo at the pub, who was relieved to see her as he’d been worried that EJ had done something to her.

Gwen revealed to Leo that she planned to buy the hospital out from under EJ. She also told him that Dimitri was harassing her daily about finding proof that she had him kidnapped. Leo told her if she was innocent, there was nothing to worry about.

EJ Sends Gwen After Kristen and Xander

When Gwen left, she ran into EJ, and they started bickering about whether or not she could buy the hospital and how he’d screwed her over after Lexie was resurrected. Gwen told EJ that Dimitri was determined to prove that she had him kidnapped.

EJ scolded her for bringing Dimitri to ruin Leo’s wedding and said that was the start of their issues with Dimitri. When Gwen dismissed him, EJ told her that she thought she always had things under control and she didn’t. EJ dropped the bomb that Kristen was having a torrid affair with Xander.

Gwen thought EJ was lying, but they told her that they’d wandered by not long before and were in the Salem Inn behind them. EJ advised that if she left now, she could probably catch them in the act, so she ran into the hotel.

Alex Gives Joy a Key

Alex and Stephanie were getting intimate on the couch when Joy and Kelsey dropped by to find Kelsey’s stuffy. Alex joked that they should just give her a key, but when Joy took it seriously, it became awkward for Stephanie to say no. 

Alex reasoned that if Kelsey forgot anything again, which she probably would, it would be helpful. He gave Joy a spare and then opened the door for her as she and Kelsey left. Stephanie lost the mood to pick up where they were.

Stephanie said she wasn’t upset about Joy or Kelsey; she was just jet-lagged from her trip. They talked about visitation with Kelsey and wanted to start having visits at their place.

Leo Learns Gus Is Staying in Salem

In the pub, Joy was talking to Leo when she realized she forgot her phone at Alex and Stephanie’s. Leo told her to leave Kelsey with him and go get her phone, so she did.

After Joy left, Javi came in and met Kelsey. Leo explained who she was. Leo was taken aback when Javi told him that Gus wasn’t going back to Texas since he was hired at the Salem Fire Department.

Kristen and Xander Get Caught Together

In Kristen’s room, she and Xander were just getting started when he hurt his elbow again, so he wanted to stop. Kristen promised to be gentle and told him to keep his shirt and sling, and she’d do all the heavy lifting.

Xander was still in too much pain and worried that the longer he took to heal, the longer it would be for him to play with Victoria, and he wanted to prioritize her. They talked about their daughters, and Xander apologized to Kristen for taking Rachel from her. 

Kristen lamented Rachel’s hospitalization and wished she could take her out of there. Xander said she could have her discharged, but Kristen explained she and Brady had to agree on it, and they didn’t.

Gwen started banging on the door, calling out to Xander to open the door. Kristen opened the door, and Gwen saw Xander sitting at the table. They claimed they were having a secret meeting about Titan and DiMera and wondered how she knew they were there.

Gwen told them that EJ had sent her and was embarrassed, thinking that EJ had lied to her. Kristen whispered to her that she’d planned on spending some time with her secret lover, and Gwen was encouraging for that. Once Gwen left, Kristen and Xander resumed their romance.

Stephanie’s Sleeping Pills Lead to Disaster

Stephanie took some sleeping pills to get a solid sleep on the couch, and Alex kissed her goodbye before leaving to do some errands. Once alone, Stephanie fell asleep, but Joy started knocking on the door, and when she awoke, everything was blurry.

Thinking no one was home but wanting her phone, Joy let herself in, but Stephanie panicked that someone was coming to hurt her. She grabbed her gun, pointed it at the blurry figure in the doorway, and pulled the trigger.
