Days of our Lives Recap June 3: Lexie Backs Theo as CEO, Gwen Threatens EJ, and Destiny Dies

TL;DR: In today’s Days of our Lives recap, Lexie encourages Theo to reclaim his CEO role, Gwen shares her dangerous secret to expose EJ as she and Leo bond, and Xander helps as Sarah struggles to process the mysterious death of Destiny.

Days of our Lives Recap June 3

At home, Lexie hung out with Abe and Theo and told them she’d been reading up on all the news that she missed from the Cubs winning the World Series to the marriages and divorces and the people they lost that they loved. 

Lexie wanted to know more about the DiMera kidnappings. She told Theo she’d also heard that he was the CEO of DiMera and told him how proud she was of him. “What??” Abe and Theo asked in unison.

Lexie explained that an autistic, Black man becoming CEO of a major corporation was a big deal. Theo admitted he was surprised by her reaction and that he’d quit because he thought she’d disapprove. Lexie told him she wished he would go back, but Abe disagreed.

Theo explained his resignation and that Johnny was the CEO. Lexie revealed Tony wasn’t satisfied with him and was looking for a replacement. Abe reminded her that the DiMeras were why Theo was kidnapped, but Lexie pointed out they were her family.

Later, Abe and Lexie talked about where to sleep. She wasn’t comfortable sleeping in the bed he shared with Paulina and thought it was premature to sleep together. They agreed she would sleep in the guest room for now.

Rolf Tells EJ of a Deadly Complication

Rolf met with EJ and told him that one of the lab rats using the same medicine as Lexie had died. He intended to find out why, and if it was natural causes or if Lexie was in danger.

When EJ emerged from the tunnels, Paulina was waiting for him in the living room. She took great pleasure in letting him know that the board had censured him, and he was one step away from losing ownership of the hospital.

To make matters worse, Paulina told EJ that Gwen was being considered as his replacement.

Gwen Entrusts Leo With Her Explosive Secret

Gwen went to see Leo and told him she had a story for him about her and EJ, noting that she knew he had been sniffing around the lab. Gwen said the story was bigger than resurrecting Lexie and could be his golden egg. Leo was confused when Gwen said he could crack the story wide open only after she was dead.

Gwen explained that EJ double-crossed her, so she was going to rat him out. But she wasn’t sure what would happen when he found out, so she made Leo promise that he wouldn’t get away with it. Gwen revealed there was a secret letter detailing everything that EJ had done.

Leo called it a dead man switch when Gwen told him her lawyer was instructed to hand deliver it to him if something happened to her. “Why me?” he asked. Gwen said she still sort of hated him but still kind of loved him, too. 

Leo told her that he still considered her his chaos twin and the only person he’d share his last martini with. He said no story or the glory of writing it could ever replace her.

Gwen and EJ’s Feud Turns Dangerous

EJ summoned Gwen and confronted her about wanting to buy the hospital. He was livid, but she didn’t care. Gwen told him that he stabbed her in the back and now she was returning the knife, blade first.

Gwen added that if anything happened to her, the skeletons in his overcrowded closet wouldn’t stay hidden for long. She challenged him to call her bluff.

Gwen left, satisfied, but paused at the entrance to text Xander. Meanwhile, Rolf returned after hearing loud voices and asked if everything was okay. EJ said it most certainly was not.

Sarah Mourns Destiny’s Mysterious Death

In the square, Sarah couldn’t find Destiny’s pulse as JJ and Javi arrived. They whisked her away to the hospital as Sarah. Destiny didn’t make it, and Sarah told JJ, Javi, and Xander the news. 

Sarah said she’d been a doctor for a long time and didn’t know why she was as upset as she was. JJ admitted that he knew Destiny Rowan in the past, in a law enforcement capacity, and said she had a substance abuse problem. 

Xander comforted Sarah, but she was insistent that Destiny wasn’t high and that it had to be something else that killed her, and she felt like a failure for not finding it. Xander offered to take Sarah home.

At home, Xander and Sarah had dinner with Victoria and played with her. Xander got a text from Gwen, but he ignored it. 

Leo Gets an Update on Javi and Gus

Leo ran into JJ and Javi in the square and stopped to talk. Javi explained that JJ was shadowing him as part of his training before he joined the fire department with Gus. 

Leo noted to Javi that it sounded like Gus had decided to move to Salem. He told him that he hoped everything worked out the way he wanted, then walked away.
