Days of our Lives Recap June 22: EJ Accuses Kristen as Marlena Reflects on 50 Years in Salem

TL;DR: In today’s Days of our Lives recap, Marlena looks back on 50 years in Salem with Paul and Belle, EJ accuses Kristen of driving Sophia to kill Johnny, and Andrew shuts down Cat’s plan to get close to EJ. Meanwhile, Chad and Belle find a thousand-lira note in the chess box.

Days of our Lives Recap June 22

Marlena was looking at a photo album when she was happily surprised by Paul Narita. He came in, and they got caught up before noticing the album. Paul asked if she was taking a walk down memory lane, and Marlena said she couldn’t believe it had been 50 years since she came to Salem.

Marlena shared memories with Paul about arriving in Salem and meeting Mickey Horton at the hospital. She also told him about her sister, Samantha, being murdered in her apartment. When Paul saw a photo of DJ, he asked if it was baby Brady, but Marlena explained that DJ was the child she had with Don Craig and told him how Don died.

Meanwhile, at the pub, Chad waited for Belle to arrive before they opened the chess box. Inside, they found a thousand-lira note. Belle called her brother Paul to ask about it, but he revealed he was at Marlena’s, so she raced right over.

Marlena Reflects on 50 Years in Salem

Marlena continued sharing her memories with Paul and Belle once Belle arrived. She talked about the good fortune of meeting John and some of the “unbelievable experiences” she had in Salem, including levitating and being possessed. When Marlena reflected on how she never would have gotten through those times without John, Belle called them her favorite love story. Marlena then told them about her weddings to John and the many times they thought they had lost each other.

Paul was fascinated by Marlena’s stories, and Belle admitted that even though she had grown up there, there were still plenty she had never heard. While Marlena stepped out of the room, Belle told Paul about the chess box and the lira note. He asked her to send him a photo and said he would see what he could find out.

When Marlena came back in, she overheard enough to realize they were discussing the chessboard. She admitted Stefano’s games scared her, but said she was a little curious. Marlena felt better knowing an ISA agent was involved, but she made Paul promise that if anything started going awry, he would bail out.

Alone with Belle, Marlena told her daughter that it was ironic she had never intended to make Salem her home. Belle told her she was glad that she did and said Marlena was not only the heart of their family, but the heart of Salem. “Here’s to memories to be made and more stories to be told,” Marlena said emotionally before they hugged.

EJ Accuses Kristen of Going After Johnny

At the DiMera mansion, EJ stormed in and screamed at Kristen that he knew she was the one who tried to kill Johnny. When Kristen tried to gaslight him, EJ raged that he had overheard her and Lani talking about how Kristen knew Chanel and Johnny were supposed to be in Chicago.

EJ laid out the facts as he saw them and told Kristen that she had driven Sophia to kill Johnny. “You’re filth and a disgrace to this family,” EJ spat, adding that she belonged in the darkest corner of hell. He also reminded her that she had sworn vengeance on him for sending Rachel away.

Chad walked in during the confrontation just as EJ warned Kristen that she would pay. Chad asked if he was interrupting. EJ growled that he was, but Kristen urged Chad to stay. Chad decided to leave and said he would come back later.

Kristen eventually pulled away from EJ and headed upstairs, still maintaining her innocence. But after she left, EJ picked up the narwhal stuffed animal from the Chicago aquarium and looked furious.

Andrew Shuts Down Cat’s EJ Plan

Cat jumped when she realized Andrew was waiting for her. He told her he knew about her plan to get close to EJ to gather information, but he warned that EJ was a predator and referenced what he had done to Sami. Cat argued that it should be her decision, but Andrew made it clear that it would not happen on his watch.

Cat explained that she met EJ at the clinic in Italy and hoped Andrew might be able to fill in some of the blanks about what happened there. She suspected she might have kissed EJ and believed they had some kind of relationship, but neither of them could remember.

Andrew then revealed that Marlena had been sworn in and that Cat could confidently use hypnosis on her to recover her memories. Cat had no idea Marlena was connected with the ISA. Before leaving, Andrew made himself perfectly clear: Cat was not to have sexual relations with EJ DiMera, and if feelings were involved, she needed to get out immediately.
