Days of our Lives Recap June 2: Marlena’s Ultimatum for Xander, Chanel Confronts Her Rude Doctor, and Destiny Collapses

TL;DR: In today’s Days of our Lives recap, Marlena gives Xander an ultimatum to drop his lawsuit against Johnny or lose her as his therapist. Chanel confronts her new oncologist for being condescending about her cancer diagnosis and pregnancy. Later, Sarah’s patient, Destiny, collapses in the square, and Sarah can’t find a pulse. Meanwhile, Roman apologizes to Kate for accusing her of railroading Johnny.

Days of our Lives June 2

Alex took Kelsey to meet Justin at the Kiriakis mansion. Alex told him that his inexperience made it a challenge, but he was all in. Bonnie came in and was excited to meet the baby as well. Later, Joy invited Alex and Stephanie to spend more time at her place with Joy but he didn’t think Stephanie was ready for that.

Marlena Gives Xander an Ultimatum

At her appointment with Xander, Marlena said that if John were alive, he’d tell her to cut ties with Xander because of how he and Kate were railroading his namesake grandson. Marlena told Xander she wouldn’t see him anymore unless he dropped the lawsuit against Johnny.

Xander balked, of course, but Marlena held firm. She told him that he needed to ask Johnny’s forgiveness, and he told her that she couldn’t force him to do anything. Marlena agreed it would be unethical, but she could stop treating him.

Marlena told Xander that he spends a lot of time lamenting the inability to fix his wrongs from the past, and she was giving him the chance to do it. Xander complained that Marlena knew his whole life story by now and didn’t want to have to start over with someone else.

Marlena pointed out that if he dropped the suit, she could work with Kate, and she’d continue to be his therapist. Xander wondered what would happen if Roman found out but Marlena shrugged it wasn’t her problem. 

Chanel’s Doctor Lacks A Bedside Manner

Marlena saw Johnny and Chanel at the hospital, and Johnny told her about Chanel’s cancer diagnosis. She offered her full support, of course. 

Johnny and Chanel met her new oncologist, who talked to her like a chart number and not a human. Chanel snapped that she required his respect as a person immediately. 

Dr. George said he’d be more sensitive, but then sounded dismissive and condescending when Chanel said she had questions about having chemo during pregnancy.

Chanel ripped into him about her situation and told him stats about Black women having even higher stats. He was outright rude to her in response, and Chanel had to tell him that he was treating her like a statistic and to quit talking to her like she didn’t matter.

The doctor told her that he did care, but she needed to get off the internet and let him do his job. He said that her level of stress wasn’t helping her and told her to call his office to book an appointment to start chemo. Chanel didn’t get many answers to her questions before he walked back out.

When they came out, Johnny told Marlena and Sarah about the doctor’s lack of bedside manner. Chanel decided she wasn’t going to be pressured into chemo or surgery by an egomaniac that she didn’t trust with her body and stormed out.

Sarah’s Patient Collapses

Sarah had a new patient at the free clinic, Destiny, who reported feeling sick and having a severe headache. Sarah had her tested for the flu and strep, but determined it was a stomach bug and wanted her to let it run its course. Destiny was upset that she couldn’t give her anything for the pain, and she ran out.

When Sarah returned to the nurses’ station at the hospital, she saw Marlena. She noted that it was the first anniversary of John’s passing, and Marlena told her about the dinner she was having with Belle and Brady.

Marlena invited Sarah to join them as Xander overheard. She said that she loved John, but it sounded like a much-needed family gathering. Marlena asked her to reconsider, as she meant a lot to Brady and, therefore, to all of them.

Later in the square, Sarah ran into Destiny, who told her that she needed to go back to the hospital because she was feeling worse. Xander was nearby and ran over to help as Destiny collapsed. Sarah called out for an EMT, telling Xander she couldn’t find a pulse.

Roman Apologizes to Kate

At the pub, Joy told Kate that she didn’t know how Stephanie would ever feel about Kelsey, since she wished the baby didn’t exist. Kate shared that she had been in a similar situation, being pregnant with a married man, and knew what it was like to not have the baby embraced.

Although Alex wasn’t married at the time, Kate said the situation could still be a lot worse. Roman interrupted and wanted to speak to Kate alone, although she was still upset with him for accusing her of doing what she most definitely did: railroading Johnny.

Roman apologized to Kate for not believing her and said that, moving forward, he would fight tooth and nail against anyone who said she went after Johnny.
