Days of our Lives Recap June 19

From the lake, Holly called EJ and asked if Amy Choi could really sue her. Before they could get into it, Holly lost reception on her phone.

Lani came by the DiMera mansion to drop off the narwhal stuffed animal she had picked up at the aquarium in Chicago for Rachel at Kristen’s request. When Kristen complained about having her daughter taken away from her, while directing pointed looks toward EJ, he declared the conversation boring and left them to catch up.

Kristen and Lani talked about Chanel and Lexie. Lani mentioned that Eli had been speaking with Lexie and suspected he was hoping she could help locate Dr. Rolf.

“You don’t happen to know where he could be?” Lani asked.

Kristen quickly realized the visit wasn’t purely social. She admitted she would love to see Eli arrest EJ someday, but not if it endangered Lexie’s life.

Kristen pointed out that EJ constantly broke the law, just as Stefano had before him. She added that she still hoped the day would come when EJ crossed the wrong person and finally faced consequences.

Eli Pressures Lexie for Answers

At the Juneteenth celebration, Abe was pleased to run into Eli but was surprised when he wanted to question Lexie. Eli asked if Lexie had any recent contact with Dr. Rolf. He explained that Rolf was wanted as an accessory in the kidnappings of Stephanie and Jeremy and remained a fugitive and thought EJ was hiding him.

Eli acknowledged that Lexie might feel indebted to both EJ and Rolf for bringing her back to life, but as a former law enforcement officer, he hoped she would help. “No, she won’t,” Abe snapped.

Lexie thanked Abe for his concern but insisted she had no information to offer. She promised Eli she would contact him if that changed and then suggested she and Abe head over to hear Paulina’s speech.

Once alone, Lani asked Abe why he did that. Abe was happy with whatever happened for her to return and wasn’t going to say anything to jeopardize it.

Paulina, Abe, and Lexie Cross Paths

Later, Lani and Eli reunited at the park as Paulina arrived. When Abe and Lexie joined them, Lani mentioned that it was Abe and Paulina’s anniversary. Lexie casually replied that she hadn’t known that fact, prompting Paulina to ask Abe why he had never mentioned it.

Ignoring the question entirely, Lexie pointed toward the podium and suggested she thought she heard them calling for Paulina. Paulina stared in disbelief at the obvious dismissal.

Paulina proceeded with her Juneteenth address, while Abe and Lexie stood prominently in the audience. As Paulina spoke about change and moving forward, both Lani and Theo stared at Lexie for a reaction but she just smiled and held onto Abe.

After the speech, Paulina tried to drive her message home to Lexie but she was just as dismissive. Outraged, Paulina called out as they walked away, thanking Abe for the anniversary bouquet. Once alone, Lexie didn’t seem bothered by the flowers but did disapprove of giving Paulina false hope. She suggested it was time for Abe to move out of the guest room.

Theo Finds a Clue in Stefano’s Chess Set

At the pub, Chad showed Theo Stefano’s mysterious chess set and asked for his thoughts. The two set up the board and played a game, hoping something would reveal itself, but they initially came up empty.

After Theo won the match, something about the board felt familiar. He remembered playing on a similar set with Stefano years earlier that contained hidden compartments.

After examining the box more carefully, Theo discovered a concealed key tucked into one of the corners. Before they could investigate further, Theo had to leave for Paulina’s speech at the park. He wished Chad luck and encouraged him to keep digging for answers.

Chad found another moving part and inserted the key. When it fit, he called Belle and asked her to come to the pub as soon as she could. “You’ll want to see this,” he told her.

Holly Struggles At The Lake

Back at the Horton cabin, Aaron and Ari decided they wanted to go for a night swim. Holly declined and stayed behind.

Aaron entertained everyone with ghost stories, but Holly became visibly uncomfortable when he launched into one involving a death in the water.

Tate quickly scolded Aaron for being insensitive. A little while later, Tate noted the Holly hadn’t eaten anything and asked if she was okay but instead of answering, she collapsed in his arms.

EJ Becomes Suspicious

EJ stopped by Johnny and Chanel’s apartment carrying flowers. Johnny updated him on Chanel’s condition post-surgery and explained that she was resting. EJ then shared the news that Holly was being sued.

Looking around the apartment where Johnny had nearly lost his life, EJ remarked that neither Sophia nor Amy deserved much sympathy. Johnny replied that finding Sophia’s body would at least provide closure for everyone involved.

EJ became interested when Johnny mentioned that police were still investigating several loose ends. Johnny recalled a conversation with Jada and explained that the gun Sophia used to pistol-whip him had its serial numbers removed. EJ questioned how Sophia could have obtained a weapon like that.

Johnny also pointed out that Sophia somehow knew Chanel was supposed to attend the aquarium with Lani that day. As Johnny wondered whether Sophia overheard the information or someone told her, EJ suddenly flashed back to Kristen’s earlier conversation with Lani.

Without explanation, EJ abruptly jumped to his feet and announced that he needed to be somewhere immediately. EJ charged home and found Kristen in the living room. “YOU!!!” he seethed, completely enraged.
