Days of our Lives Recap June 17: Gabi Demands Her Terms, Theo Agrees to Co-CEO
TL;DR: In today’s Days of our Lives recap, Gabi shocked Xander and Philip with her demands in exchange for Titan funding, while Johnny asked Theo to be co-CEO at DiMera. Belle and Chad grew closer while investigating Stefano’s chess set, and Cat told Rafe she was getting closer to EJ to expose the truth about the miracle drug.
Days of our Lives Recap June 17

Xander asked Johnny to come by the office so he could tell him the truth about setting him up, let him know the lawsuit was done, and apologize. Johnny asked why he was confessing now, but other than that, he accepted his apology and said he had bigger things to worry about and left.
Philip arrived, and Xander told him about it. He told Philip that it was amazing how Johnny had found forgiveness and hinted that Philip should try it with Gabi.
Philip said Xander only cared about getting his hands on her inheritance money. Xander countered that that was true, but he also cared about his happiness, and everyone could see he was miserable.
As they were talking about it, Gabi walked in, so Philip was going to leave, but she asked him to wait. Gabi told Xander in front of Philip that she wouldn’t get the money for a while, but she knew what she wanted in return. Gabi announced that she wanted a healthy share of Titan ownership and a seat on the board.
Xander balked, but Gabi explained that this way, Philip wouldn’t feel like he owed her anything. Titan would get the money it needed, and when it turned a profit, she’d get a slice of the pie.
Gabi offered to have the paperwork drawn up for them all to sign. Xander told Philip that it was a way for them to get the money they needed while preserving his dignity, and he shook hands with Gabi, despite Philip’s hesitation.
Johnny Makes Theo His Co-CEO

At the DiMera mansion, EJ let Chad know that he’d seen him and Belle on the kiss cam, but said he and Cat almost missed it because they were sharing a passionate kiss of their own. Chad was irritated, but they didn’t argue. EJ seemed too happy with his choices to be upset about anything. As Chad left, Johnny came in and told EJ that Xander admitted it was a setup.
When EJ swore revenge on Xander and Kate, Johnny asked him to stop, pointing out that he couldn’t stay stuck in a revenge cycle. Johnny asked why EJ said no to Paulina about the miracle drug. EJ explained that he wouldn’t experiment on Chanel and that she had a treatment that was proven to work. Johnny asked whether he should reconsider in the future, if needed.
EJ said he would, as long as it was safe. Theo joined them and said that Lexie was thriving. Johnny told Theo that he wanted him to do more than just help; he wanted them to be co-CEOs. EJ tried to intervene, but Theo and Johnny shook on it.
Theo Challenges EJ

Later, alone, Theo and EJ played chess, and Theo wanted to talk to him about fighting Gabi in court about her claim on the inheritance. EJ told him how he’d secured a handwriting expert to dispute her claim. Theo pointed out that Rafe was with the FBI and had access to many experts who concluded Vivian signed the papers. He knew Gabi was telling the truth and that EJ was just trying to tie the case up for years.
Theo told EJ he and Gabi weren’t friends, but the last thing he wanted was to be caught in a battle with her. EJ snidely asked if he was going to hand over millions of dollars because she hurt his feelings. Theo insisted dropping the case was the right thing to do — and that’s what they were going to do. EJ said he couldn’t make those types of decisions unilaterally, but Theo said, as the executor, he could.
EJ glowered that Theo shouldn’t make him regret asking him to help Johnny at DiMera. Theo advised that he had given Gabi his word already and he wasn’t going back on it.
Marlena Encourages Leo

At home, Marlena teased Belle about being on the kiss cam. Belle admitted that after the game, Chad said he’d look into the chess set, and she wanted to make sure her mom was fine with that. Marlena didn’t care, so long as they didn’t tell her whatever they found out, as she didn’t want to know. Belle was surprised but accepted her answer as Marlena walked out.
Marlena went to her office for her appointment with Leo. He didn’t want to talk about his own life; he said that he was really scared for Gwen and needed to vent about it. Leo told Marlena everything he knew about the situation and thought that since she had information, she could be in danger. Marlena pointed out that Leo could be as well. Leo didn’t think anyone would miss him anyway if something happened to him.
Marlena pointed out that Javi would care, but Leo thought he’d moved on and it was a pointless topic. Marlena listed the good things Leo had done, from taking care of Tesoro to owning up to his mistakes. She asked him to be on his own side, and he promised to work on that.
Belle and Chad Investigate the Chess Set

Chad came to Marlena’s, and Belle told him she’d picked up the chess set from Brady and hoped he’d help her figure out Stefano’s message. Chad was still interested in it and already had some ideas on what his dad’s message was.
They talked about the missing pawn and wondered if it meant there was another pawn out there. Belle got it out, and they were going to set it up, but Belle had to go to work. They spent the few minutes they had kissing instead.
Cat Tells Rafe About Her Risky Plan

Cat went to see Rafe and told him how EJ and Mark had each done an about-face on the miracle drug and letting her mother use it. She was sure that it was a sign that something was wrong with it. Rafe accused EJ of putting profits over patients. Cat said if that was what he was planning, then she had to make sure he didn’t succeed. Rafe didn’t like the sound of that and thought she was about to go rogue.
Cat said that EJ was attracted to her, and it made him let his guard down. So far, she’d gotten him to admit he was still in touch with Dr. Rolf. She said Rafe told her to trust her instincts, and that’s what she wanted to do by getting closer to EJ.
Rafe rejected her idea, noting that EJ was dangerous, and when he found out she was playing him, who knows what he would do to her. Cat reminded Rafe he was her partner, not her boss, and she didn’t have to do what he said. Rafe suggested they call Andrew and ask if he approved.
