At Marlena’s, she and Julie tried to focus on their book club discussion, but the Cubs game on television reminded Marlena of John. Their attention shifted completely when the kiss cam appeared and revealed Belle and Chad sharing a kiss.

Julie and Marlena were thrilled by the possibility of Belle and Chad becoming a couple. They took the public nature of the moment as a positive sign that the relationship could have a future.

Julie also filled Marlena in on her date with Foster. She admitted that she never thought she’d go on another date after Doug’s death, and while part of her had enjoyed herself, she also felt guilty. Marlena encouraged Julie to let go of that guilt, reminding her that Doug would want her to be happy. She assured Julie that finding comfort with someone else was okay.

Julie wasn’t sure where things with Foster might lead, but admitted that for the first time in a long while, she didn’t feel so alone. Their conversation ended when Foster called to report an issue with the bookstore’s security system, prompting Marlena to walk Julie to the square.

EJ and Cat Hit Pause

At the DiMera mansion, EJ and Cat were kissing when they noticed Belle and Chad on the kiss cam. Their moment came to an abrupt stop as they processed what they’d just seen. However, when they asked each other whether it mattered, both agreed that Chad and Belle were part of the past and that they wanted to focus on each other.

EJ resumed kissing Cat and suggested they continue upstairs, but Cat pointed out that things were moving quickly. She reminded him that she was his employee and noted that he had just watched his ex kissing his brother on television. “You can’t tell me those things aren’t connected,” Cat said.

EJ insisted they weren’t connected at all and said he was simply caught up in the moment. He assured Cat that he was willing to wait until the timing felt right for both of them. “I told you whatever happened next was up to you, and I meant it,” EJ added.

Cat Learns the Truth About the Miracle Drug

Cat later excused herself and arranged to meet Mark for dinner at Small Bar. She immediately sensed that something was wrong. Mark had been drinking and explained that he couldn’t discuss details because of his NDA. However, he did reveal that there was a problem with EJ’s miracle drug and that they couldn’t use it on their mother.

Meanwhile, EJ crossed paths with Marlena in the square. Marlena asked how he felt about seeing Belle and Chad kiss. EJ claimed he was fine with it and revealed that he and Cat had been kissing at the same time.

EJ suggested that perhaps it was a sign for everyone involved to move on, adding that he was happy to do that with Cat. Before leaving, EJ brought up the chess set, but Marlena maintained that she was content to forget about it and never discover what it meant.

Chanel Refuses EJ’s Help

Back at the apartment, Johnny tried to focus on happier things by planning a future family vacation. Chanel became emotional and admitted that she worried about what the future held and whether she’d even be part of it. Johnny comforted her, and the couple supported one another through the difficult conversation.

Chanel explained that her body was going to change and that those changes would affect both of them. She wanted Johnny to be honest about how those adjustments might impact their relationship. Johnny assured Chanel that nothing would change how much he loved her and listed all the reasons he adored her.

Paulina arrived and insisted that Johnny contact EJ and convince him to provide Chanel with the miracle drug. Chanel was horrified by the suggestion. She refused to be a guinea pig for an experimental treatment and made it clear that she never wanted to be indebted to EJ again.

Belle and Chad Embrace Their New Beginning

When Belle and Chad arrived home, they wondered who might have seen them on the kiss cam, but quickly realized they didn’t care. The children were invited to the fair, and once they had left, Belle admitted that if Chad hadn’t kissed her first, she would have kissed him.

When the conversation turned to the mysterious chess set, Belle confessed that she was interested in figuring out its significance. She told Chad about the missing pawn, and he agreed that there was a mystery worth solving. Chad offered to help her investigate. Belle accepted his help but made one request: she didn’t want Marlena to know about it.
