Days of our Lives Recap June 1: Cat Traps EJ, Gabi’s Apology Tour, Lexie Makes Demands Of Abe

TL;DR: In today’s Days of our Lives recap, Lexie returns home and pressures Abe to end communication with Paulina. Meanwhile, Paulina is devastated to learn about Chanel’s cancer diagnosis. Gabi tries to apologize to Philip and Theo but is rebuffed, though she forces Philip to honor their shipping contract. Cat tells Mark and EJ she wants to use Rolf’s drug for her ailing mom and then tells Rafe she has laid a trap for EJ. Later, Mark is horrified when his lab rats die. Jada questions Johnny further after finding the untraceable gun used by Sophia. He recalls that somehow, Sophia knew that Lani and Chanel would be at the zoo in Chicago the day of his attack.

Days of our Lives Recap June 1

Gabi stopped Philip in the square to tell him that she got confirmation that she’d be getting the DiMera inheritance. Philip didn’t want to hear about it, but Gabi promised to give him money as she had told him she would, but he barked that she was only offering out of guilt.

Philip made it clear he didn’t want a penny from Gabi. She broke down and told him how sorry she was about everything, from bugging his office to him having to find out from Theo. “Theo? What does he have to do with anything?” Philip wondered.

Gabi was horrified when Philip told her he hadn’t heard it from Theo but wouldn’t say who told him. Gabi said she had to make something right, so Philip told her to enjoy her apology tour and suggested she start with the truth.

Lexie Comes Home

Lexie came home with Abe and Theo and got her settled in as they talked about life and the memorable moments she had missed. They questioned Theo about his love life, and he admitted he liked someone, but they accused him of something he hadn’t done. Theo made a quick exit and left to get them treats from the bakery.

When Theo left, Lexie and Abe began kissing. Lexie noted that the home was his and Paulina’s, and that he’d left their home to move in with her. Abe assured her that she was always with him and that Paulina knew that.

Lexie asked if Abe felt the same for Paulina because she didn’t think she could be as accepting. Abe suggested telling Paulina they want some alone time for a while, but Lexie preferred he go no-contact and let Paulina take a hint.

Abe told Lexie that he felt bad for Paulina, but that he had mourned her and missed her every day that she was gone. They went back to kissing.

Mark’s Lab Update

At the lab, Cat visited Mark and told him that their mom had taken a downward spiral. He let it slip that the drug he was working on for EJ showed promise as something that could help their mom. Cat deduced that Mark would get in trouble for reaching out to Rolf, but she wouldn’t be culpable as someone in the know from the lab. 

Later, in the hospital reception, Cat saw EJ and told him that her mom was deteriorating. He asked how he could help, so Cat suggested that he use the drug he had for Lexie as a clinical trial on her mom.

EJ wouldn’t take any money but offered to contact Rolf and ask him if they could help. He said there would be conditions, but they could talk about it later as he had a meeting. He told Cat to stay strong before walking away.

Once alone, Cat called Rafe and told him that she had just laid a trap for EJ and was pretty sure he was going to fall right into it. Meanwhile, in the lab, Mark panicked when his lab rats died.

Jada Questioned Johnny

At Johnny’s office, EJ was shocked when Johnny told him he needed time away from DiMera. Johnny ended up telling EJ about Chanel’s diagnosis but asked him not to say anything. EJ was understanding and offered his full support.

EJ left at Jada’s request when she came to question Johnny some more about Sophia. Jada said that they found the gun Sophia used to knock him out in the river. She wondered how Sophia got her hands on an untraceable gun and why she’d go through the trouble if she didn’t want to shoot him.

Jada wondered if Johnny remembered any other detail that he didn’t during his first statement. Johnny thought it was odd that Sophia knew that he’d be home alone and that Chanel wouldn’t be back for hours. 

Johnny didn’t know of anyone who knew Chanel and Lani were going to the zoo that day, other than family like Julie and Paulina. Jada thanked him for his time and left.

Paulina Finds Out About Chanel’s Diagnosis

At Johnny and Chanel’s, Paulina was stunned when Chanel told her about her cancer. She promised her full support and was glad that Lani knew as well and that she’d offered to run the bakery. She offered to watch Trey while Chanel got some rest and choked back tears as they hugged.

Chanel couldn’t rest and overheard her mom canceling meetings, but she stopped her. She wanted life to be as normal as it could be and sent Paulina on her away. Later, Chanel broke down after her mom left. When Trey woke up, she decided to take him for a walk.

Meanwhile, Paulina returned to her hotel room, in shock from Chanel’s news. She went on her laptop and researched breast cancer and pregnancy, but paused to cry. 

Gabi Apologizes To Theo

Gabi spotted Theo in the square as she was about to call him and said she wanted to apologize for lashing out at him. Theo thought she’d come to her senses because she actually knew him, but he walked away when she said that she had heard the truth from Philip.

Theo ran into Chanel and Trey after getting mango tarts for his mom. He said that she was released from the hospital that day, and noted that it was awkward to talk about. Chanel agreed but didn’t want to take away from the joy that Theo must be feeling.

As Chanel talked and started to tell him about her diagnosis, Theo began to breathe more deeply and then put his hand on his heart. “Theo? Are you okay?” Chanel gasped.

Theo said he was just stressed, and it happened sometimes. He said he’d been hurt by a friend, and when she said that things were different now, he felt overwhelmed. Chanel chose not to tell him about her cancer and instead told him that she would always be his sister.

Gabi Holds Philip To Their Contract

Gabi heard from her assistant that she’d gotten a long email from Philip, canceling their shipping deal with Gabi Chic. She tracked Philip back down and asked him why. “You can’t figure it out? Because I don’t want anything to do with you!” he barked. 

Gabi reminded Philip that they had a contract and his family needed the deal — especially since he rejected her offer to take DiMera money. Gabi warned that if Titan went down, thousands of people would lose their jobs. She said they were both heartbroken, but she wasn’t letting him out of his contract.
