Days of our Lives Recap July 31: EJ Has Kristen Kidnapped as Lexie Collapses

TL;DR: In today’s Days of our Lives recap for Friday, July 31st, 2026, Leo heads to Alamainia to save Gwen, EJ orders Kristen’s kidnapping, Lexie collapses while trying to rescue her, and Chad helps Leo get a ride.

Days of our Lives Recap July 31

Leo was on hold for an hour and a half trying to book a flight to Alamaiania, only to be told to go online. As he missed the flight, he was in a panic by the time Chad stopped by. He told him what was going on with Dimitri having Gwen, and Chad thought he might have an idea.

Chad made a call and then told Leo to be at the DiMera jet in one hour. He said he would text Leo the details as they headed out the door.

EJ Makes His Move Against Kristen

At the DiMera mansion, Kristen returned from saying goodbye to her mother. EJ spotted her and invited her to join him for a drink. They ended up having a cryptic talk, and she told him that he wouldn’t be there if not for her.

Kristen noted that she wasn’t Stefano’s by blood, but her father made sure she was as much of a DiMera as he was. “You might be the most DiMera of us all,” Kristen said. They stared each other in the eye and they both said they had to go and take care of some things.

After Kristen walked away, EJ recalled his confrontation with Kristen about her trying to murder Johnny. He called someone and said, “Do it now.” In the park, Kristen paced until someone came up behind her and put a gloved hand over her mouth. Kristen quickly pressed the button on her bracelet.

Lexie Says Goodbye

At the Carvers’, Theo snuck out after whispering with Abe. He returned with a Christmas gift for Lexie: a ring with their three birthstones. As it grew time for her to go to the airport, Lexie was adamant she would take the car service she’d arranged, but got very emotional saying goodbye to Theo. He got a work call and had to go take it.

When Abe came in with her suitcase, he saw her sobbing and asked what had her so upset. Lexie told Abe it was just hard to leave. Abe said he understood and was counting the days until she came back home again.

Lexie’s phone beeped from Kristen’s bracelet, and she told Abe she had to leave. “Oh, my sweet Abe. I have to go,” she said tearfully and Abe told her that he loved her with his whole heart. Lexie left but cried in the hallway.

Leo Leaves for Alamainia

In the square, Javi handed over Trey to Paulina. She said after the week she had, she was looking forward to spending time with her grandson. Javi and Gus talked about babies again, and Gus was sure he didn’t want (or seem to even like) kids.

They saw Leo on his way to the airport, and he told them that he was going to Alamainia to rescue Gwen. Javi gasped that he couldn’t do that alone and that it was dangerous. Gus and Leo looked at Javi questionably when he pleaded with Leo not to go.

Leo’s ride share arrived and he left. Javi worried that Leo was going to be in danger, but Gus told him that he was lucky that he wasn’t his problem anymore. He suggested they go home where there were no babies or exes.

Paulina Questions Lexie’s Trip

Chad saw Rafe at the pub and filled him in about Dimitri’s text and Leo taking the DiMera jet. Rafe thought Leo really knew how to work it, but Chad said it was time to be taking him seriously.

Meanwhile, Theo and Abe took a walk through the square and saw Paulina with Trey. Theo went to say hello first, and then Abe tentatively walked up. Paulina thought it was weird that Lexie was flying to Africa without Abe, especially since she’d been glued to his side. Abe said he didn’t understand it either but respected her decision.

Paulina couldn’t let it go that Lexie went to Africa. She asked if she had a passport or if she was up to it medically. Paulina asked how long she was going to be away and Theo said she hadn’t booked her return flight yet. “Hmm,” Paulina said but then wouldn’t say what she was thinking. She told them she hoped Lexie had a good trip and took Trey to her hotel room.

EJ Sends Kristen Away

Rita found EJ in the living room and told him that they took Kristen without incident, which made EJ very happy but then his face fell. She wondered if he was having second thoughts. EJ said he wasn’t but also didn’t expect to feel so sad.

EJ talked himself through his feelings, and when he got to the part that she tried to kill his son, he decided that sending Kristen to the island was merciful. Rita said he didn’t have to explain himself to her. EJ looked at Stefano’s portrait and said, “As always, I’m trying to explain myself to him.”

Rita told EJ that Stefano never second guessed himself. EJ agreed but noted that he just wished it didn’t end this way. “And yet with the path he set you on, it was inevitable, don’t you think?” Rita mused.

Lexie Collapses While Trying to Save Kristen

At the airport, EJ’s henchman told Kristen that it wouldn’t be the most comfortable flight, but once she got to the island, she’d have all the comforts of home, except her family. He shoved her into a container and locked the door. Kristen hoped that her plan with Lexie worked.

Lexie got to the container but was winded. The container was locked, and she didn’t see any keys. Kristen told Lexie through the door how it was killing her that she couldn’t be at Rachel’s homecoming. She said she sort of got to say goodbye at Bayview. Lexie said she tried to say goodbye to Theo and Abe and hoped that one day they would be able to forgive her. They kept chatting while Lexie was supposed to be looking for a way to open the container, but she was leaning against the door. Lexie said she was going to look for a crowbar, but as she got around the corner, she stumbled.

Lexie couldn’t take too many steps, and as Kristen called out to her, she couldn’t answer. As Kristen started to worry that something had happened to her, Lexie sank to the floor and fainted.
