Days of our Lives Recap July 29: Leo Gets a Chilling Message About Gwen, Susan Warns EJ, and It’s Christmas in July

TL;DR: In today’s Days of our Lives recap for Wednesday, July 29th, 2026, Chanel is forced to keep her distance from Trey, Lexie shares a special Christmas surprise, Susan warns EJ about a dark path, and Leo receives a shocking message about Gwen.

Days of our Lives Recap July 29

Johnny realized that Trey had a cold and warned Chanel that she couldn’t be around him because she’d just had chemo that morning. Chanel was upset as she wasn’t ‘just’ a cancer patient; she was also a mom. Johnny said they needed to call in reinforcements. He called Leo and asked if he was available to babysit Trey asap.

Leo told him he couldn’t, but asked him to tell Trey he loved him. Javi came instead and picked up Trey, promising to video call every hour. After they left, Johnny washed Trey’s clothes and blankets and reminded Chanel why they couldn’t take chances. He took the day off to spend it with her.

Lexie Plans a Special Christmas

At the Carvers’, Theo overheard Lexie on the phone with Kristen, saying that when the time came, she would drop everything. Lexie quickly hung up, but Theo wanted to know what she meant. Lexie lied that she was arranging a ride to the airport for her trip.

Abe came home and got Lexie to reiterate that she was going to visit her mom, but he told her he just got off the phone with Celeste, who had no idea she was coming. Lexie told Abe that she wanted to surprise her, so Abe apologized.

Lexie announced she’d ordered dinner from the bistro, and sent Abe and Theo to pick it up. She called back Kristen and said the coast was clear. Alone after, she prayed for just a few more days.

Meanwhile, Abe lamented to Theo that he’d ruined Lexie’s surprise and felt terrible. Theo told him that Lexie forgave him already, and it was an honest mistake.

When Abe and Theo returned, they were shocked to find that Lexie had transformed the place with Christmas decorations. Lexie wanted to make up time for what she’d lost. She told them each how much they meant to her.

Leo Investigates Gwen’s Disappearance

Leo went to the Hernandez house to talk to Rafe about Gwen’s disappearance, including all his theories, like that EJ hacked into the computer and stole Gwen’s letter.

Rafe shared that Gwen hadn’t used her credit cards, and her hotel room key hadn’t been swiped in over 48 hours. Plus, an airport construction worker found Gwen’s phone on the airstrip, smashed. He also found out that only cargo planes had used the airstrip since her disappearance.

Leo and Rafe were interupted by Javi coming home with Trey. Rafe said he had to get to work and told Leo not to do anything stupid. “Low bar but I think I can clear it,” Leo replied.

Once alone, Leo claimed he was working on a story, but Javi asked if he was just hanging around, hoping to see him. Leo thought he’d prove it that he wasn’t like that by getting out of his hair.

Leo left as Gus came in. Once alone with Trey, Gus told Javi that babies didn’t really like him and he wasn’t comfortable around them, either. When Javi said that Leo claimed he was working on a story, Gus shared that he’d seen Leo earlier and he was looking for Gwen.

Javi didn’t realize she’d disappeared. Gus told him that Leo asked him to tell Javi goodbye in case anything happened to him. Javi thought it was strange that he didn’t tell him directly.

Susan Warns EJ

At the DiMera mansion, Susan told EJ she was there to stop him from making a mistake. She pulled off Stefano’s ring and said it was full of bad energy. After inspecting the ring, Susan told EJ that he’d started down a very dark path.

Susan yelled at EJ that he was not Stefano and she wouldn’t let him become that monster. “Do you understand me?” she bellowed. EJ reluctantly said he did.

Rafe arrived and told EJ that Gwen disappeared, and the timing was suspect given the pending hospital sale. Susan asked what was going on but Rafe introduced himself and kissed her hand. In front of Rafe, she said she did a cleansing ritual on the ring, and then told him how to do it again himself if needed.

When Rafe said he suspected EJ of taking Gwen, Susan defended him and said she would feel it if he did. Despite EJ’s protests that he was not involved, Rafe told him he didn’t believe him, and he was taking it all the way until EJ got what was coming to him.

Leo Gets a Message From Dimitri

Leo went back to his room and managed to convince someone to give him a list of all the flights of the day that Gwen disappeared. One of the flights was for Alamainia.

Leo texted Dimitri and asked if he happened to know where Gwen was. To his surprise, he got a reply, stating simply, “Turnabout is fair play.”
