TL;DR: In today’s Days of our Lives recap for Tuesday, July 28th, 2026, Sarah apologizes to Holly after realizing she was telling the truth, Kate tries to win Roman back, and Marlena confronts EJ about the lives he’s destroying.

Days of our Lives Recap July 28

Kate told Marlena that EJ set up a shell company to take over Titan, and it would likely go under, followed by Basic Black. Kate said she couldn’t work with Marlena because it was all her fault for going after Johnny to begin with.

Marlena told Kate it wasn’t all her fault, but that she could lose the one she loves. Marlena gave Kate a pep talk and told her that she was sure Roman would come back. Kate was grateful for Marlena’s friendship, forgiveness, and offer to work together. Marlena told her it would stay on the table.

Xander and Sarah Suspect EJ

At the hospital, Xander told Sarah that he suspected EJ poisoned Holly to cover himself. Sarah shared what she knew from Steve and the bad batch being pulled two years ago. They suspected that EJ knew he was going to be exposed and used Holly to cover it up again.

Sarah said she felt horrible for accusing Holly when she was telling the truth. She wanted to nail EJ, so Xander suggested security footage but she knew it would have already been wiped, just like with the book on her desk.

Xander assured Sarah that Holly would forgive her. “Thank you for loving Holly,” Sarah told him. “Of course I do, just like I –,” Xander said but stopped himself from ending the sentence. He told Sarah he was there for her, and she thanked him before going to see Holly.

Sarah Apologizes to Holly

In Holly’s room, EJ shared the good news that Amy Choi had backed down from her lawsuit. He told Holly to always call him when she needed something, and he would be there for him. Sarah came in and ordered EJ out of the room. He left, but Holly was upset about it.

Holly told Sarah off once they were alone. Sarah didn’t argue back; she apologized instead. Sarah explained that she thought her worst fears had come true when they found the pills, but knew now they were probably planted. Holly understood why she had jumped to that conclusion and said she wanted to just move forward and put it in the past.

Tate Visits Holly

At the gym, Tate mentioned to Brady that he had a session with Gwen, but she was a no-show. Brady thought it was notable since Steve said she hadn’t been seen or heard from in 24 hours. Tate wondered if something happened to her.

When they got to the hospital, Tate went to the gift shop, and Brady told Xander he thought EJ had made Gwen disappear to stall the hospital’s sale. “That’s not all he’s been up to,” Xander fumed. Brady shared his conversation with Sarah, and when Tate returned, Brady told him. Tate left to see Holly and apologize.

Sarah left when Tate came in. He apologized, but Holly was upset. She told him that someone did this to her, and made everyone she cared about not believe her. Tate said she had every reason to be angry with him and told her that he loved her.

Holly forgave Tate, and said she had more good news: EJ thought Amy Choi was dropping the lawsuit. She felt like a big weight had been lifted; he gave her a stuffed bunny from the gift shop before they kissed. “Let’s get you out of here,” Tate told her.

Sarah returned to Brady and Xander and told them Holly had forgiven her. She added that EJ was in her room again. They agreed not to tip him off that they were onto him. Sarah listened to Brady and Xander discussing what they were going to do to get evidence against EJ to bring him down. 

“Well, look at us. Working together like a team. Didn’t see that coming,” she said dryly. Xander told them never to underestimate the power of a common enemy.

Kate Tries to Reach Roman

At the pub, Kate came to see Roman. She reminded him of the days when she was a waitress, serving him and Abe and remembering their orders. “I had feelings for you even back then,” Kate said, She told Roman that she could always be herself with him.

Roman didn’t want to walk down memory lane with her, so she said that present day, they were soul mates and meant to be together. “You’re not going ot freez em out. I made a terrible mistake,” Kate told him. She said she was sorry and cried that she didn’t do it because she didn’t love him.

Kate said that she would give it all up for Roman. “Seems like now, you won’t have a choice,” Roman said. He wanted to get back to work. Kate told him she was going to work on reminding him what he liked about her in the first place.

Marlena Confronts EJ

EJ came home to find Marlena waiting. She told him that he kept coming up in non-confidential conversations that he might destroy lives. She said that Gwen was one, his sisters, and the personnel at Titan. “Is it ever going to end?” she wondered.

Marlena shared that she knew Lexie was dying and that she was keeping it from Abe and Theo. “Lexie is in hell right now,” Marlena said. EJ snapped that he tried to save Lexie and didn’t need to be scolded by her. She added that he needed to stop getting Johnny to do his dirty work.

“What did Johnny say to you?” EJ asked. “Nothing, but your answer tells me everything,” Marlena sighed. Marlena told EJ that Johnny didn’t want to follow in Stefano’s footsteps and asked him not to drag him into it.

“I’ve seen your dark side. I know you can be vengeful and ruthless. But I’ve also seen the side of you that both my daughters fell in love with,” Marlena added. EJ was struck by what she said but composed himself. He told her that, like her, he was only protecting her family.
