Days of our Lives Recap February 16: Gwen and Xander hook up, Dimitri and Leo team up, Brady and Sarah’s pact

TL;DR: In today’s Days of our Lives recap, EJ is stunned when Dimitri shows up at the DiMera mansion. Brady and Sarah make a pact to keep their friendship intact if their secret romance fails. Dimitri and Leo team up to investigate who set Dimitri up, leading them to plan a trip to Alamainia. Gwen and Xander give in to their pent-up frustrations, while Gabi leans on Philip as she processes her feelings about Stefan’s death.

Days of our Lives Recap Feb 16

At the DiMera mansion, EJ made Susan happy by telling her that she was his focus on Valentine’s Day. But he was also surprised when she had plans with her man. “Say hi to Roger,” he told her as she ran off for some romance.

Once alone, EJ followed up by trying to reach Vivian, but couldn’t get past Ivan. “Do I have to come to Alamainia to reach her myself?” he barked.

Brady and Sarah Make a Deal

At the pub, Brady told Sarah that he did have feelings for her and wanted to spend Valentine’s Day with her. They were happy to talk about being together until the subject of Rachel came up, and that she wasn’t ready.

Brady insisted that he wasn’t going to let Kristen control his life, and that he was going to establish a new normal with Rachel for all of their sakes. 

Brady told Sarah that her friendship was very important to him, and he worried about risking it if something romantic didn’t work out. “So what I’m hearing is you’re a little scared. I am, too. But when I look back at my life, I don’t regret the things I tried and failed at. I regret the things I didn’t try that might have been great,” Sarah told him. “What if we’re missing out on something that is truly great?”

Sarah suggested that they make a pact to preserve their friendship no matter what. They laughed and giggled with anticipation as they shook on it.

Outside the pub, Brady walked with Sarah. Before they parted, he gave her a kiss and a hug. “Til next time,” he said.

Dimitri And Leo Team Up

Dimitri was surprised to find Leo still waiting for him at the police station when he was released, but Leo reminded him he’d asked for his help. Leo agreed to help investigate how Dimitri was set up as he believed he was innocent. 

They decided against Leo’s better judgment that the only place to talk privately about the details was in Leo’s hotel room.

Dimitri and Leo went through the facts as they knew them and decided the answers were in Alamainia. Leo told Dimitri if he was going, then Leo was coming with him. To clarify, Leo said that being in his hotel room together on Valentine’s Day made him feel disloyal to Javi.

Leo advised Dimitri to go home and not tell anyone about their suspicions while he figured out how to get his ankle bracelet removed so he could travel without notifying the FBI.

Gwen Has An Idea

Gwen and Xander finished golfng and he was very complimentary of her coaching skills. He told her that he was golfing to release stress, and she told him about her own anxiety over her assets being frozen.

Gwen suggested that instead of taking their pent-up frustrations out on the golf course, they take them out on each other.

Gwen reminded Xander that they had a chance before, but he was loyal to his wife, which didn’t work out. Xander said he didn’t think he would love anyone again the way he loved Sarah, but he wasn’t cut out for a celibate life, either. He suggested that he drive Gwen home because he had broken her windshield. “We’ll take care of it tomorrow, I promise,” he said as they grabbed their clubs and headed out together.

Chad Makes Up For Lost Time

Chad went to see Belle and apologized for not following through on his dinner date offer. He told her that he still wanted to, it would just have to wait as he was taking the kids out of town.

After realizing Belle was having a frozen dinner and working on Valentine’s Day, he suggested they go out right there and then.

Gabi Leans on Philip

Gabi and Philip were in Florida, and she was acting distracted. He thought it had something to do with the last time she was there, as she’d hinted at earlier.

Gabi told Philip about everything she’d found out about Stefan being taken, not leaving her on his own accord. She wondered if he died of a broken heart.

“So you don’t even know if you were divorced or not,” Philip realized. Gabi told him that Rafe had forensics looking into some handwriting samples of Stefan’s that she had.

“Sorry, what I meant was if you were never divorced, you’re not Stefan’s ex-wife. You’re his widow,” Philip clarified. Gabi didn’t seem to know where he was going with that. 

Gabi was focused on knowing whether or not her husband still loved her when he died, and Philip was content being there for Gabi as she processed her thoughts and feelings. 

Philip suggested they get room service, but Gabi wanted to go to their dinner reservations and then lie on the beach and look at the stars. 

Chad Says Some Goodbyes

In the square, EJ was surprised to run into Chad and Belle together — and to learn that they were on a date. After EJ walked away, they bumped into Leo, who was dismayed that his Chadwick was leaving town.

Chad explained where he was going and that he would be there for him if he needed. “Aye, aye, Captain,” Leo told him as they smiled at one another.

Meanwhile, Belle extended her condolences to EJ, who appreciated the sentiment. He wished her well on her date.

Later, Chad and Belle had some wine at the bistro, and he told her that as soon as he returned to Salem, he’d take her out on that first date.

EJ Comes Home to Surprises

At the DiMera mansion, Gwen and Xander had a drink and told one another they were more good-looking than ever. As they began to kiss, Susan walked in and demanded an explanation.

Gwen got Susan squirreled away, then returned to tell Xander that she had threatened to tell EJ to evict her because of her company. Gwen said coyly that everyone makes mistakes. “Let’s make another one,” she told him. 

They resumed kissing in the living room and passed EJ on their way upstairs as he returned home. He rolled his eyes and shook his head, then made himself a drink. Behind him, Dimitri walked in.

“Dimitri, what are you doing here?” EJ gasped. Dimitri took EJ’s drink and swallowed it while looking at Stefano’s portrait before saying, “What does it look like I’m doing, dear uncle? I’m rising from the ashes, of course.”

Broken Hearts Club

Leo went back to his room and called Javi. He left a message saying he could only think about him on Valentine’s Day and wanted him to know he still had his heart.

A moment later, Javi messaged: “Until you’ve made up your mind, I don’t want to hear from you. It’s just too hard.”
