TL;DR: In today’s Days of our Lives recap for Monday, August 3rd, 2026, Chad postponed his trip with Belle, EJ secretly hid Lexie, Philip locked Xander and Sarah in the wine cellar together, and Cat nearly discovered EJ’s secret.

Days of our Lives Recap August 3

At Small Bar, Chad met Belle and told her how he helped Leo get to Alamainia. Then, he told her that could go to Italy as planned, at least not when she wanted to. Chad explained that the kids were coming back early and there was a father-daughter dance he wanted to take Charlotte to.

Belle didn’t know with her case load if she could push the trip back. Chad said they weren’t going to call off their mystery search, and they spent some time kissing.

Rafe Prepares to Go After Dimitri

Meanwhile, Rafe summoned Cat to his office and told her that it wasn’t EJ but Dimitri who took Gwen, and that Leo was en route to Alamainia. He thought it was a bad idea and was going there himself the next day. He wanted to free Gwen, get her to flip, and then they would have all the ammunition they needed to bring EJ down.

Rafe apologized to Cat for questioning her work, and said she did a great job in bringing down EJ.

After Cat left Rafe’s office, she saw Chad and Belle kissing in the square. She said a brief hello, then kept going. Chad and Belle got ice cream and recalled how they matched online, then did some more kissing on a park bench.

EJ Discovers Lexie’s and Kristen’s Switch

Rita rushed into the DiMera living room to tell EJ that they had a big problem with the kidnapping of Kristen. She told him that Chad used the jet, by loaning it to Leo to save Gwen from Dimitri. EJ noted at least he was off the hook for a crime he didn’t commit.

Rita told EJ that it would be cruel and inhumane to leave Kristen in the container if she wasn’t going to be going anywhere. They went to the container but when they opened it, Lexie was asleep inside.

Lexie told them that she switched places with Kristen as she’d come to terms with dying, and that Kristen wanted to disappear without his interference. She didn’t know where Kristen was, but imagined she was long gone. Lexie asked EJ to send her to the island instead as she didn’t want Abe and Theo to watch her die.

EJ told Lexie he would take care of her himself and not let anyone know she was there. “You won’t have to be alone,” he promised. EJ held out his hand and offered to take her home. Crying, Lexie took his hand, and they left.

Philip Locks Xander and Sarah Together

Sarah walked into the Kiriakis living room to find Philip and Xander celebrating together. They told her that Titan had been saved and invited her to join in. She reluctantly agreed, but then Philip encouraged the two of them to go find some Greek wine in the basement.

After they selected a couple of bottles, they went to leave, but the handle wouldn’t open the door. Sarah wondered what the problem was, and Xander went to give it a try. On the other side of the door, Philip put the key in his pocket and walked away.

Xander noted there were worse places to be trapped, and that Philip would eventually come look for them. Upstairs, Philip recalled how Xander told him that he would refrain from trying to win back Sarah and just work on changing himself and his temper. He was interrupted by Kate.

Philip told her what he did, and she scolded him for it. Philip felt responsible for Xander and Sarah breaking up, but Kate reminded him about his track record with messing with Brady’s love life, but Philip scoffed that Brady set himself up for failure. He said that anyone with eyes could see that Xander and Sarah were meant to be together.

Sarah and Xander Grow Closer

Meanwhile, Xander told Sarah that he would like to take Victoria to the daddy-daughter dance. As they shared a bottle of champagne, they chatted about Holly, and Sarah thanked him for his help with that. Xander assured Sarah that Holly was family and he’d do anything for her.

Xander and Sarah talked about EJ and how Holly should know the truth about what he did. After they finished the bottle, they spotted a mouse and Sarah jumped into Xander’s lap. They were just about to kiss when Philip suddenly opened the door.

Cat Nearly Discovers EJ’s Secret

At the DiMera mansion, EJ got Lexie some water and had just promised again that no one would know she was there when Cat called from the door that it was open and asked if he was home.

By the time she got to the living room, EJ and Lexie were gone, the tunnel door was quietly closing, and Rita was sitting there. She sipped some water and told Cat that EJ wasn’t available. “He’s… otherwise engaged,” Rita said as Cat glanced at the tunnel door.
