Days of our Lives Recap August 21

At the hospital, Abe and Theo told Lexie that just a few months ago, if someone said they had another 20 minutes with her, it would have been a gift. They still considered it a blessing to have her back, even for a little while.
Lexie had a message from Celeste, saying that the stars would carry her onward. Abe gave Theo a moment alone with his mom, who asked Lexie about EJ and why he hid her in the tunnels. Lexie explained that EJ wanted to tell Theo and Abe about her condition, but she made him promise not to.
Lexie asked Theo not to blame EJ; she said it was her dying wish to keep it a secret. “He’s the reason we have this time, Theo,” Lexie added as Theo cried.
In the hall, Jada asked Kayla for her input on Lexie and if EJ was holding her against her will. Kayla said Lexie was on borrowed time, so she said she’d question EJ first.
Jada Questions EJ

At the DiMera mansion, EJ asked Rita on the phone if there was an update on Kristen’s whereabouts. He said he was off to the hospital to check on his other sister, and hoped she didn’t tell anyone about his plans for Kristen.
Before EJ could leave, Jada arrived and wanted to question him about his sister. She could tell he thought she meant Kristen, but EJ said she was missing, so that was an obvious assumption.
Cutting off Jada, EJ said his other sister was running out of time, and he had to get to the hospital. He walked past Jada, who had been blocking the door, and left.
Chanel Has a Scare

In Chanel’s room, Johnny saw that Chanel was bleeding just as Paulina and Lani walked in. He told them to get Kayla immediately. Chanel was scared, but Kayla said it was normal during labor and told her not to panic.
In the hallway, Eli arrived, and Lani ran to his arms. She said it was just like what happened with them when they lost their baby. Eli took her to the square to talk.
Meanwhile, Paulina saw Abe, and he comforted as she cried in fear. Johnny came out and told them that Kayla was able to stop the bleeding and everything was okay.
Abe asked Paulina to give Chanel his love, and Paulina wished the best for him, Theo, and Lexie as well. Paulina texted Lani the good news and ran back to Chanel’s room.
Kayla told Chanel that she was going to increase the inducing medication because a C-section was too dangerous for a hemorrhage. Chanel’s labor pains got more intense as Johnny and Paulina stayed with her.
When it was time, Paulina ran for a doctor. As Chanel was giving birth to a baby girl in one room, it was another situation in Lexie’s.
Chanel Has a Scare

When EJ got to the hospital, he ran into Lani and found out Chanel was in labor. He hurried off to Lexie’s room and said Johnny would keep him updated on Chanel. Lani looked suspicious as she walked away.
Meanwhile, Abe returned to Lexie’s room and told her as Theo was asking about Kristen and if Lexie knew where she was. When EJ walked in, Abe tried to kick him out, but Theo and Lexie told Abe it was Lexie’s request to hide her in the basement.
Lexie asked to speak alone with EJ, so Abe and Theo reluctantly left. Lexie told EJ she was grateful she got to spend more time with her loved ones. That made EJ smile, and he said he was so glad that she felt that way.
EJ apologized to Lexie, but she didn’t want him to be sorry. “Because of what you did, I got more time with my family, and I wouldn’t change that for the world,” Lexie said. She told EJ that she was wrong for wanting to spare Abe and Theo from spending this time with her.
Lexie added that he should know that she didn’t tell anyone about what he had planned for Kristen because she wanted him to fix it. “Stop this war with Kristen,” she asked. Lxie asked EJ to be a better man. “It’s the last thing I’ll ever ask of you. Promise me you’ll try,” she said. “I’ll try,” EJ agreed through tears.
EJ Gets To Say Goodbye To Lexie

Lexie told EJ again that she was grateful to him one more time for bringing her back, and then she suddenly fell unconscious. As the monitor went off, EJ screamed for help. Abe, Theo, and nurses ran in as one yelled that they had a code blue.
When Kayla came in, she told them that they were able to stabilize Lexie, but the transfusion didn’t give them as much time as she’d hoped. “It’s time to say your goodbyes,” Kayla said.
EJ knew Abe and Theo wanted their privacy. He leaned over Lexie and told her he loved her. She awoke in time to tell him she loved him too. A sobbing EJ left the room as Abe and Theo moved closer to tell her they were there and hold her hand.
Abe told Lexie everything she’d given him in their lifetimes. He said he was sorry they didn’t get to Paris again, but they got to spend Christmas together. “Such wonderful memories,” Lexie said. “Every moment with you is a wonderful memory. Even this one,” Abe cried.
Theo told his mom that she was his superhero. He recalled how she used to sing to him. As Lexie sang a lullaby to Theo until her last breaths, Johnny sang the same one to his daughter in the other room.
