Days of Our Lives Recap August 17: Gwen Refuses Rafe’s Deal, Lexie and Chanel Need Transfusions

TL;DR: In today’s Days of Our Lives recap for Monday, August 17th, 2026, Gwen refuses Rafe’s deal, Abe and Theo find out Lexie is dying and ask for more time, while Chanel goes into labor and needs a blood transfusion.

Days of Our Lives Recap August 17

At the police station, Rafe explained to Jada that Dimitri kidnapped her and took her to Alamainia in retaliation for her and EJ kidnapping him. He added that he’d offered her a deal if she turned on EJ, as Gwen frowned.

Gwen told them she wasn’t giving so much as a footnote on EJ until she knew for sure she’d be protected from EJ and the courts. Jada told her that until they knew she could be of use to them, there was no deal.

Jada reminded Gwen that Belle would be handling the case and would jump at the chance to put EJ behind bars. Gwen didn’t trust them and wondered if she was being entrapped.

Rafe and Jada tried to assure her of her safety, but Gwen said the track record against the DiMeras wasn’t strong. They reminded Gwen about her confession letter. Gwen said that they wouldn’t be pushing so hard if her letter would stand up in court, and since they had no evidence, she wanted to be on her way.

Rafe left since Gwen wasn’t keeping her word and was released. He went home, and told Javi that Leo was on Alamainia. “What? You left him there?” Javi asked.

Rafe told him that Leo stayed willingly in exchange for Gwen’s freedom. Javi thought he was brave, but an idiot. “What was he thinking?” Javi asked. Rafe explained that Leo sacrificed his safety and happiness for a friend. “What were you thinking?” Javi snapped.

Abe and Theo Find Lexie

In the DiMera tunnels, Abe sobbed over Lexie, asking her to stay with them as he and Theo tried to figure out what she was doing there. They had the paramedics bring her to the hospital.

Once there, Abe and Theo briefed Kayla as they brought Lexie in. Kayla went to Lexie’s room and was there when she awoke. Lexie explained what was going on.

Meanwhile, at the apartment, Chanel was in labor. Johnny asked Julie to take Trey, and Paulina fretted that the chemo wasn’t ended three weeks early as they were told it should be. Lani thought the early baby was fine, and Johnny promised Chanel they’d get through it.

Chanel was brought to the hospital, where Kayla checked her out and got her prepared. Lani took Paulina to get something to eat because she was freaking out and there was plenty of time, but they ran into Abe and Theo.

They told each other why they were there. Paulina asked if Lexie’s condition was serious, and Theo shared that they didn’t think Lexie would survive.

Lexie Asks for More Time as Chanel Needs a Transfusion

Kayla returned to see Lexie, who tried to tell her about Kristen, but since she was awake, she wanted to let Abe and Theo know so they could see her. Abe asked Paulina to tell Chanel that he loved her before going to Lexie’s room.

Lani and Paulina had questions about Lexie, but all Kayla could tell them legally was that they were lucky that they found her. “Found her?” Paulina questioned. She told Kayla that she hoped she could save her.

Kayla went to Lexie’s room and confirmed that now that Rolf’s drugs were wearing off, her body was shutting down. Kayla said they could buy her more time with drugs or a transfusion, but the result would be the same. Theo asked Lexie if she would do that so they could have more time together.

When she heard Theo and Abe’s pleas, Lexie agreed. Lexie told them that if the medications gave her more time with both of them, she couldn’t refuse, so Kayla went to make arrangements.

Meanwhile, Paulina, Lani, and Johnny kept Chanel comfortable. Kayla came in with a much-desired popsicle for Chanel and told her her blood count was a little low, so they were going to do a transfusion.
