Days of Our Lives Recap August 14: Devlin Is Taken, Lexie Is Found, and Chad Turns on Cat

TL;DR: In the Days of our Lives recap for Friday, August 14th, 2026, Chad and Theo found Lexie in the tunnels, Devlin and EJ fought, Rita took control, and Abe was alerted about Lexie.

Days of our Lives Recap August 14

At the DiMera mansion, Rita gave Devlin St. John a shot with a dose of medication that would cause him to forget he was ever there. When Rita went downstairs, Chad was there. Rita told him that EJ was sick, and he called it karma for running Kristen out of town. 

Just then, Theo walked in and asked where his mother was. Theo explained to Chad that Lexie was missing and that he believed she was in the tunnels, just like the first time. He couldn’t seem to get in through the outside doors, and thought he’d enter through the living room. Rita stopped him and said that EJ said no one was allowed in the tunnels. 

Devlin and EJ Fight

Meanwhile, upstairs, Devlin woke up, saw himself on EJ’s bed, and assumed he’d been… compromised. EJ explained he’d been given a dosage that would help make him forget why he came, but he needed to give him the second dose. Before EJ could inject him, Devlin grabbed his arm, and they began arguing.

Devlin slapped EJ, who slapped him back. He finally got the needle into him, but then EJ passed out on the bed because he was so sick. Devlin collapsed at first but eventually managed to get up. 

As Devlin slowly made it down the stairs, he heard Rita talking to Theo and Chad about the tunnels. They went inside anyway, and Rita spotted Devlin wandering the foyer. She asked him what he was doing, but he had no idea.

Devlin Is Compromised

Devlin recalled golfing with George, and the next thing he knew, he woke up in someone’s bed, then heard that a woman was hidden in the tunnels because a miracle drug had failed. Rita tased him, and when he woke up in the tunnel lab, he wondered, “Where am I now?!” EJ burst in and demanded to know why she had Devlin down there. Still sick, he had a coughing fit, so Rita told him she’d give him some medication. But when she reached in the cabinet, she got the pill form of the same memory-wiping drug they’d given Devlin. Rita sent EJ back upstairs to bed, confident he’d never remember that Devlin was ever there.

Once alone, Devlin pleaded with Rita to let him go home to his ferrets, but he wound up unconscious and in a pod. She paused to tell him that he was a breath of fresh air but reminded her of the guy on TV that called himself a comedian, but shouted the news at a speed that no one could understand it. 

Rita admitted she had a crush on him so she couldn’t bring herself to kill him. She said that this way, EJ would never know. She helped him sign a resignation letter, and told him he was on his way to paradise. Rita said she wished they’d met under different circumstances, but to have faith that he would return one day. And with that, she closed him up inside the pod.

Paulina Shares Her Concerns For Abe

At their apartment, Johnny and Chanel waited for Paulina to come and babysit Trey so they could go to Abe’s birthday dinner. Chanel noted it was odd that Lexie would go away on her own for Abe’s birthday after being gone for 15 years. Johnny tried to reason it, but Chanel said it was just plain weird.

Paulina arrived to babysit and brought a gift for them to give to Abe. She explained that Marlena encouraged her to stay close to Abe, but noted that Marlena gave her a funny look, as if she were trying to say something more. 

Paulina got the feeling that something was going on that Marlena didn’t want him to face alone. Before they left, Chanel had some stabbing pain but said it was Braxton-Hicks and still wanted to go to dinner. 

Lani Comforts Abe

At the Carvers’ home, Lani came to see Abe on his birthday, but he wasn’t in the mood for celebrating. He asked if they could cancel dinner, but she thought it would do him good to see his loved ones. Abe reluctantly agreed.

Lani promised they would find Lexie and said she would be back after whatever treatment she was getting. Abe just hoped she’d come back home to him soon.

At the Bistro, they met for dinner with Johnny and Chanel, and they opened Paulina’s gift. It was a painting of handprints from all the kids, and Abe was deeply touched. 

Mark And Cat Catch Up About EJ

Mark and Cat met at the pub, and they got caught up on Aaron being smitten with Ari. Mark said he had paid Aaron’s tuition but wasn’t sure whether he’d still have a job by the time spring tuition was due. 

Mark told Cat that the lab rats were dying when taking EJ’s miracle serum, and that was why he didn’t want their mom to use it. He complained about how his job required him to keep secrets, and warned Cat that she could be compromising herself as EJ’s personal assistant.

Mark was shocked when Cat told him that EJ was going to offer him a job at DiMera Pharma. He was thrilled that it would mean he wouldn’t have to keep as many secrets.

Chad Helps Theo and Abe Get To Lexie

Theo and Chad found Lexie in the tunnels. Theo told Chad to call Abe right away but he didn’t have phone service. Theo said he was at the Bistro and didn’t want him to find out over the phone. Chad understood and told Lexie he was sorry EJ did this to her, then ran back out to find Abe.

Chad saw Cat in the square on his way to the Bistro. He told her they’d just found Lexie dying in the tunnels. “But you knew that, didn’t you?” he snapped before going to the Bistro. When Chad came to the table, he asked to speak to Abe privately.

Chad told Abe what was going on, and he left, so Chad went back to the table to apologize for the disruption. He told Chanel, Johnny, and Lani that Theo was okay, but Abe had to meet with him and would fill them in later; then he left as well. 

Chad Devastates Cat 

Back in the square, Cat saw Chad and tried to explain to him, but he didn’t want to hear it. He said that he tried to warn her about EJ, but she didn’t listen. He couldn’t believe that she knew about Lexie and said nothing.

Cat swore she was going to tell him after she figured it all out. She said she’d only heard the night before that Lexie could be there, but he didn’t believe her. Cat was devastated when Chad told her she had lied to him from day one and that he was finally seeing her for who she really was. 

Meanwhile, Johnny, Chanel, and Lani brought pizza home and told Paulina what happened with Chad at dinner. As they were talking, Chanel had another pain and said she thought she was in labor.
