Days of our Lives Recap August 11: John Oliver Arrives as Devlin St. John, Leo and Rafe Deal With Dimitri

TL;DR: In the Days of our Lives recap for Tuesday, August 11th, 2026, John Oliver came to Salem as Devlin St. John, Belle got her travel plans back on the calendar, Rafe tried to make a deal with Dimitri, and Cat tipped off Marlena about Lexie.

Days of our Lives August 11

Devlin St. John, “Yes, THE Devlin St. John,” he said, walked into Paulina’s office, but she didn’t know who he was. The self-declared famous water inspector explained he was there to talk about his favorite subject: water.

Devlin said he was there about a report of a contaminated well on Smith Island. His questions led him to see Julie next. At the Horton house, Devlin asked Julie why she had the well disinfected. He said her act of civic heroism purified the well so much it was practically holy water.
Unfortunately, her acting without permission meant they wouldn’t know what lurked down there. Julie assured him she was trying to prevent people from dying, which he agreed almost always was an understandable priority. “Almost?” Julie asked. 

Julie asked if it was true that arsenic can sometimes leach into a well. Devlin rambled about how he doesn’t deal with maybe words. He asked if she’d noticed any irregularities in the neighborhood like people with clipboards asking questions about water. 

Julie said she didn’t, so he said he’d sign off based on her word, which apparently carried considerably more weight than the laws of gravity. Even the clouds scooched out of the way if Julie declared it a sunny day, he said before leaving.

Theo Celebrates Abe’s Birthday

At the Carvers’ house, Theo called his grandmother in Africa and asked if she had plans to see Lexie as he was trying to surprise her with a trip to NYC. To his dismay, Celeste confirmed she didn’t have any plans for a visit with Lexie yet.

When Theo hung up, Abe walked in. Theo told him happy birthday, and Abe suggested they try to call Lexie, but Theo talked him out of it. Abe was distracted by a card and gift Lexie left for him — a money clip with the infinity symbol on it. Theo said he’d be back to celebrate with a birthday dinner and went out.

Cat and Chad Talk 

At the DiMera mansion, Cat told Chad that EJ had the flu, but she came prepared with a box of masks. He still wanted to talk to EJ because his sister was missing. “Lexie,” Cat nodded. “No, Kristen,” Chad said, “She disappeared into thin air.”

Cat covered, saying she assumed he meant Lexie, but remembered she was traveling. Chad asked her to let him know if she heard anything, then borrowed a mask to go see EJ.

Since EJ was asleep, Chad returned. He told Cat he was trying to take a trip to Italy with Belle. Cat said that she hoped Chad had a good time and not to worry about his crazy family, as she’d keep an eye on them for him.

Later, Chad and Belle looked at their calendar and realized they could make the trip work after all if they used the DiMera jet right after the daddy-daughter dance.

Belle Makes a Promise to Marlena

Belle met Marlena at the pub, and found out that she told Brady she was leaving town by choice but didn’t know why. Belle updated Marlena that Chad couldn’t go to Italy and she was thinking of going by herself.

Marlena didn’t want her to go, noting that chasing clues of a Stefano mystery wasn’t safe, especially on her own in a foreign country. Belle tried to convince Marlena to come with her instead. She pointed out that John wouldn’t have let it go until he figured out the mystery, and Marlena would have gone along with him.

Marlena said Belle was just like her father, but made her promise not to go alone. Marlena tearfully told her daughter how much she loved her.

Chad Answers Belle’s Questions

Chad met Belle at the pub, and he told her he’d been at the DiMera mansion and had seen Cat. That got a reaction from Belle, who admitted it made her feel a way to know they were together. 

Chad said he was an open book and that she could ask him anything. Belle wondered if he still had feelings for Cat when he signed the custody agreement, and he admitted that he did. But a lot had changed since then, and he liked Belle a lot. 

Rafe Asks Dimitri For Help

In Alamainia, Dimitri, Gwen, and Leo were shocked when Rafe walked in. He told them that he wasn’t there to bring in Dimitri; he needed his help. 

Rafe said that he had proof that Gwen conspired with EJ in Dimitri’s kidnapping. Gwen and Leo started arguing about her letter and why the FBI had it. 

Despite Rafe saying he had a signed confession, Dimitri refused to go with Rafe back to Salem. Rafe listed off some of the crimes, tempting him to put Gwen in prison, and that he could take down her and EJ at the same time. 

Leo threw his two cents in, trying to tell Dimitri that he would be the hero for bringing down EJ. Rafe picked up where Leo left off and said that it was up to Dimitri on whether or not “that dirtbag” went down. He said he needed Dimitri’s statement as corroboration as the victim.

Rafe said that Dimitri didn’t need to be in Salem for more than 24 hours, and that Gwen would come too. Dimitri wanted Gwen to stay in Alamainia until he was assured she would be charged, but since Rafe wouldn’t agree to that, Dimitri declined.

Gwen and Dimitri started insulting one another, but Leo interrupted and told them that they needed to move on. Dimitri seethed that Gwen stole his one chance at love and happiness with Leo and for that, he would never forgive her.

Leo asked if Dimitri wouldn’t make a deal with Rafe, if he would make one with him instead. “Let them go, and I will stay here with you,” Leo said. 

Devlin Questions EJ

Devlin went to the DiMera mansion and looked around. “It’s exactly how I pictured it: Gothic revival meets a bachelor pad for ghosts,” he told Rita. Devlin was disappointed that Rita didn’t know who he was, but when he introduced himself, he and Rita had a connection as they shook hands. 

The two of them seemed to be flirting, but Devlin wanted to see EJ, so she took him upstairs. There, they woke up a sick EJ so that Devlin could question him about the contamination on Smith Island.

To EJ’s horror, Devlin told him that he went golfing with George, who had too many drinks afterward and told him he knew where all the bodies were buried in the Coriseal case. “And guess what? Now so do I!” Devlin revealed.

Cat Tips Off Marlena About Lexie

Theo went to the hospital and told Marlena about his call to Celeste. He said he didn’t tell Abe, but thought his mom might be sick again. He asked if she knew where his mom could be. Behind them, Cat wandered in and eavesdropped.

Marlena told him that she wished she could do more to help but promised to tell him Lexie reached out. After Theo walked away, Marlena was conflicted, so Cat asked her for a word.

Cat and Marlena went to her office, where Cat revealed that she thought Lexie was in the tunnels. Marlena warned her that if she looked in the tunnels and got caught, it would be dangerous. Cat advised that Theo was a DiMera and it would be safer for him to look for his mother in the tunnels instead.

Cat felt bad as she thought Lexie was dying, and she knew what it was like to be losing a mother. She thought it was more important than ever for Theo to be with Lexie, and Marlena agreed.

Meanwhile, Theo went home and told Abe he wasn’t okay. He said that Lexie wasn’t at Celeste’s — she was missing.
