Days of our Lives Recap April 28: Theo lies to Chad, Stephanie Panics About Alex’s Bundle of Joy

TL;DR: In today’s Days of our Lives recap, Alex drops the bombshell that he may have a daughter, Kelsey, leading a distraught Stephanie to run away from him. Meanwhile, EJ tells Cat that Theo has replaced him as Stefano’s will executor, and Marlena is added as a beneficiary. Chad tells Theo he suspects that Abigail is the one in the pod. Jeremy finds Stephanie crying and stops to comfort her.

Days of our Lives Recap April 28

Marlena ran into Chad in the square and welcomed him home. He asked if Thomas and Rachel could visit Rachel in Bayview, but Marlena said she didn’t know, as Kristen had banned her.

Chad apologized on behalf of his family and said he would talk to his sister. Marlena had to leave when she was summoned by EJ.

EJ Leans On Cat and Marlena

At the DiMera mansion, EJ told Cat that he had been removed as executor of Stefano’s will and put Theo in charge. EJ didn’t think it would change Cat’s planning of the reading, but noted that Marlena had been added.

Cat thought it might be hurtful that Stefano replaced him, but EJ blew it off. He wanted to get out of the house, but Marlena was coming over. EJ asked Cat to dinner instead.

As Cat was leaving, Marlena showed up, and once alone, she questioned EJ about his relationship with Cat, implying it was inappropriate. 

EJ invoked Marlena’s confidence as his former therapist and told her that he and Cat realized they had a former connection. He wondered if she could help him remember through hypnotherapy.

Marlena tentatively agreed, but EJ told her there was something else. He invited her to the will reading and announced she’d been added as a beneficiary.

Marlena said she wouldn’t be there, but EJ told her if she didn’t show up, she might be forfeiting her inheritance, depending on the terms of the will. “Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to cope,” Marlena quipped. 

Marlena said she was done with Stefano living rent-free in her head. EJ advised that until she had closure, he always would be.

Alex Tells Stephanie About Kelsey

At home, Alex told Stephanie that he had just found out that he had a daughter. He explained Joy claimed she’d lied about being pregnant, and that they were going to do a paternity test.

Stephanie had lots of questions, and Alex told her all he knew. They wondered who told Joy that he wanted to have kids.

Stephanie was outraged, but more so when Alex defended Joy. He told her he was sorry as he knew it was the last thing she needed. “But it’s exactly what you wanted, isn’t it?” she snapped.

Stephanie’s emotions were all over as she processed what happened. She agreed that if Alex was the father, he needed to be in the baby’s life, and she knew that he had done nothing wrong, but she was still upset.

Stephanie wondered if it was a sign that they weren’t meant to be, and ran out the door, claiming she needed some space.

Theo Lies to Chad

At the pub, Theo told Abe that he’d been named as executor of Stefano’s estate. Abe suggested he just say no, but Theo didn’t want to. Abe said he’d be at the reading to accept Lexie’s inheritance for Theo.

Chad came in later and caught up with Theo. He wasn’t pleased with EJ, and told Theo about EJ buying the hospital to house his lab project.

Theo was taken aback when Chad told him he knew who was in the pod. “It’s Abigail,” Chad insisted. Theo told Chad he didn’t know anything, but was pretty sure EJ wouldn’t lie about that. Chad didn’t agree.

Jeremy Wants Joy As An Ally

At the bistro, Joy told Jeremy that Alex melted when he held Kelsey, and she was happy that she had come back to Salem. They talked about how Jeremy found out after talking to Stephanie the day before that Joy’s baby daddy must have been Alex.

Jeremy wondered why she kept it a secret all this time. Joy said her mother was a big part of it and she would have had dollar signs in her eyes.

Jeremy tried trashing Alex and getting Joy on board with thinking he wasn’t the best man for Stephanie, but she wasn’t having it.

Joy didn’t want to disrupt Alex’s marriage and didn’t want his money; she just wanted Kelsey to know his father. Jeremy said he understood.

Later, as Joy was walking through the square, she ran into Alex. He said that Stephanie didn’t take the news well, and they needed to do the paternity test immediately. Joy had no problem with that. 

Meanwhile, Jeremy walked through the park and ran into Stephanie crying on a bench. He asked if she was okay, and she said she wasn’t.

Jeremy sat with Stephanie, and she told him about her day.
