The Bold and the Beautiful Recap May 20: Hope Reaches Her Limit with Brooke; Zende Fumes as RJ Shines

TL;DR: In today’s Bold and the Beautiful recap, Hope confronts Brooke for prioritizing Ridge over her daughter and her career, leading Hope to feel abandoned once again. Meanwhile, Zende is furious about being sidelined at Forrester as RJ basks in the spotlight, but the cousins agree to call a truce. Liam asks Hope to join him at Logan.

The Bold and the Beautiful Recap May 20

At Spencer, Liam kept checking his phone for word on Hope. Katie didn’t know what she was hoping for because she wanted Hope to be happy but knew how one of her decisions could affect Katie and Brooke’s relationship.

Hope Reaches Her Limit

At Brooke’s, Hope fumed that she really needed Brooke to stand up for her, but once again, she chose Ridge over everything. Brooke tried to explain that she did want to be co-CEO, but not at the cost of Ridge’s relationship with his daughter.

Unlike Brooke, Hope didn’t believe that Ridge would let Hope have a real place at Forrester. She said her line had been sidelined so many times that no one believed it was coming back. 

Brooke told her that it would return, but Eric’s couture line was a priority, and Hope thought she was parroting Steffy. Hope was also tired of hearing about Katie and being punished for the Forresters’ feelings about her.

Hope told her mom how much HFTF meant to her, and Brooke insisted she was proud of everything she had done. She couldn’t stomach being under their thumb, and pointed out how Steffy even made her fire her own brother.

Hope wanted to hear her mom tell her how hard she tried to fight for her, but instead Brooke told her that she and Ridge spent all night in bed.

“Are you serious? Ridge dropped a bomb that you knew would devastate your daughter, and you…just…???” Hope gasped. “Oh please, don’t be this way,” Brooke said.

Brooke left and went to Forrester, where she told Ridge about her conversation with Hope. He was sure that it would all work out and they would work together for years to come.

Zende Fumes As RJ Shines

At Forrester, Eric, Ridge, RJ, and Zende watched their designs come to life on the runway, but Zende was frustrated at everything. He told Ridge again about how he felt being sidelined and not having the agency to create as he did with HFTF. Ridge still couldn’t commit to when, or even if, HFTF would be in production again.

Zende was visibly irritated when Ridge and Eric agreed with RJ’s input. He went back to the design office, where RJ came to talk to him. RJ said he was planning to stick around but didn’t want any friction between them.

Zende told RJ that he was talented with the pencil, but his return was like royalty had arrived, and the way RJ strutted around got to him. That said, he also wanted to get along, and the cousins shook hands.

Hope Turns To Liam

Hope stormed into Spencer and could barely speak. Liam could tell that it meant the Ridge chose Steffy over her mom, but Hope added that Brooke was supporting Ridge and Steffy. “My mom will choose Ridge over anything and everyone, even if it goes against her own best interest. Even if it goes against her own daughter,” she cried.

Hope said she felt abandoned by Brooke again and couldn’t believe her mom was this gullible. She said the worst part was that after she sided with Ridge, she jumped into bed with him. 

Hope didn’t understand why Brooke didn’t stick up for herself and for her, and for her. Liam told her that maybe Forrester didn’t see how talented and brilliant she was but everyone else did, and it was time for her to come join him at Logan.
