The Bold and the Beautiful: Who Really Declared War Between the Spencers and Forresters?

When Bill Spencer gave Katie Logan her own fashion house as a wedding gift on The Bold and the Beautiful, it was never going to sit well with everyone. Bill undoubtedly enjoyed tweaking Ridge Forrester by backing “the dressmaker’s” competition, but Katie’s goal wasn’t to take over the fashion world. From the beginning, she said she wanted the chance to prove she could build something of her own rather than always working under Brooke Logan’s shadow.

What followed has become one of the biggest family feuds on B&B. But as accusations continue to fly about who “started the war,” it’s worth looking back at what actually happened.

Katie Never Asked For A War

Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) objected to Bill’s (Don Diamont) gift almost immediately, questioning why Katie (Heather Tom) needed her own fashion house instead of working alongside her family. Katie consistently explained that this wasn’t about Brooke or competing with Forrester Creations. She just wanted the satisfaction of succeeding on her own.

Despite those assurances, Brooke and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) repeatedly questioned whether Katie was trying to compete with them. They warned that she wouldn’t succeed and framed Logan as a direct threat to Forrester, even while insisting Katie had little chance of making an impact in the industry.

Those two positions often contradicted each other. If Katie truly wasn’t a threat, why was so much attention focused on stopping her? Somehow, the fact that Katie wouldn’t stop building her dream was considered an act of war.

Eric’s Designs Changed Everything

The tension escalated when Eric Forrester (John McCook) agreed to design for Logan — an offer Eric made himself. He was pressured into leaving Forrester Creations by Brooke and Ridge, but Katie didn’t recruit him away from the company. Eric simply wanted to design, and Logan gave him that opportunity.

But that distinction quickly became lost in the fallout. Rather than viewing Eric’s decision as his own Share , Brooke accused Katie of taking something that belonged to her. Katie was criticized for using the Logan name, for accepting Eric’s help, and eventually for preparing to debut the designs he had created. It all added up to Brooke that ‘this’ was war.

Logan’s Fashion Show Became the Next Battlefield

The conflict reached another level at Logan’s premiere fashion show. Although Katie owned the designs Eric had created, Brooke insisted they couldn’t be shown.

Katie moved forward with the show anyway, prompting Brooke, Ridge, and Eric to arrive at the event and publicly confront her, accusing her of stealing and treating the launch as another attack on the Forrester family. By that point, the disagreement had clearly evolved beyond a simple business rivalry, and the Forresters said they were at war with Spencer.

Hope’s Decision Was Viewed as Another Attack

Hope Logan had over a year waiting for her promised fashion line to move forward at Forrester Creations. After being fired, returning to the company, and repeatedly being assured her collection would receive attention, she ultimately decided to leave and join Katie instead.

Rather than seeing Hope’s departure as frustration with her situation at Forrester, Brooke viewed it as another blow against her. Once again, the conversation returned to the same idea: Brooke declared war.

The Family Feud Spread Beyond Fashion

The conflict eventually spilled into the younger generation. Tension between RJ Forrester and Will Spencer had been building for months over Electra. After repeated confrontations and insults, the rivalry turned physical at Bikini Bar. During a recent altercation, Eric was accidentally struck when RJ ducked one of Will’s punches.

The incident immediately intensified the family divide. Brooke blamed Katie because Will was involved, while members of the Forrester family vowed there would be consequences for Will despite the fight involving multiple participants.

The disagreement was no longer just about business. Again, it was personal, and now it was ‘war.’ At this point, Katie was disowned permanently from both the Logan and Forrester families.

Steffy Continued the Pattern

Not to be left out, Steffy paid Hope a visit at Spencer Publications to confront her about leaving Forrester.

Hope explained that she wanted to work somewhere she felt appreciated and where her ideas would move forward. Steffy saw it differently, telling Hope that she had “pulled the pin from the grenade” and started the war.

Despite the two women at one point being in agreement that they would not repeat the mistakes of the previous generation, the dialogue was similar to the Logan sisters’ arguments. It echoed the same accusations that had been directed at Katie from the very beginning, only despite everything that had already been said and done, Steffy moved the timeline so that Hope was the root cause, and again, the one who supposedly declared war.

Looking Back at the Timeline

Over the past several months, multiple characters have been accused of starting this feud. Katie was blamed for accepting Bill’s gift. Eric was criticized for choosing to design elsewhere after being told he could no longer design for Forrester Creations. Hope was faulted for changing employers. Will became the latest target after his rivalry with RJ boiled over.

Yet throughout each stage of the conflict, the phrase “declaring war” most often came from members of the Forrester family.

Whether readers agree with Brooke, Ridge, Steffy, RJ, or Katie, the timeline shows a consistent pattern. Katie repeatedly described Logan as an opportunity to build something of her own, and for others to work in a healthy, supportive environment to achieve their goals as well.

To Katie, it was never about destroying Forrester Creations. Hope said she left because she wanted to be somewhere her work was valued. Eric made his own decision to design for Logan — regardless if he admits it now or not.

The debate isn’t simply about who left Forrester or who joined Logan. It’s about why nearly every decision to pursue something outside the Forrester family business has been interpreted as an act of war.

With emotions continuing to escalate and neither side willing to back down, this feud appears to be far from over.
