This week on Beyond the Gates, Joey’s sister, Heather Armstrong, arrived and informed him that she was The Impaler. Heather wanted to work with Joey in other enterprises, but he declined. Jacob worried Elon when his obsession with taking down The Impaler began to affect his work, even if Jacob did force Ren to give up the name of a higher-up: Davit Azarian. When confronted, Joey told Jacob, out of respect for Derek’s loss, that Azarian had a history of trafficking; Joey kept it secret from both Jacob and Vanessa that he knew the identity of The Impaler.

Leslie Schemes While Fairmont Crest Prepares for the Gala

Samantha was doubtful when Tyrell seemed convinced that he could persuade Jessica to give up moving to California in the fall and attend college with him instead. Leslie annoyed Mona by showing up to her Sunday school donation drive, though she did contribute $100,000 to its renovation. After learning that construction on her “shouse” could resume, Leslie failed to talk Eva into putting her on the guest list for Martin’s political fundraiser. Later, she bought her way in through the country club’s event manager.

Genoa City’s Victor Newman arrived by helicopter and greeted Vernon before getting to meet Martin, about whom he’d be making a speech. Recording company executive Devon Winters flirted with Dani before introducing his wife, Abby Newman; later, Devon showed Leslie compassion after she interrupted his conversation with Anita about putting Barbara’s vocals on remastered Articulettes songs. As guests rushed out of the ballroom in search of safety, a tree smashed through the side of the building, which let in all manner of flying debris. Leslie took cover with the Duprees; after the tornado passed, she expertly wrapped Anita’s sprained ankle. The appreciative Anita soothed Leslie when she felt that Eva going missing was karma for her behavior. Vernon took control of the situation with one part of the country club cut off from the other, while doctors Ted and Nicole and nurses Shanice and Ashley worked to treat injured partygoers.

Romance Blossoms Amid Disaster

Hayley, who had been pulled into a supply closet by Kyle, kissed him while they were trapped together, though she did soon clarify that she had a husband. That said, she didn’t put back on her wedding ring until just before she reunited with Bill.

Dani panicked being stuck in the elevator with Bill and implored him to help her reach its ceiling hatch; when she fell, Bill’s concern led to the exes making love.

Heroes Emerge and Lives Hang in the Balance

Victor was among the many unaccounted for until news arrived that he had left the country club before the cyclone hit. Smitty, Nicole, and Ted were horrified to discover that Martin had been pinned under the tree that had blown in; after Martin was rescued, he insisted he felt fine and refused to go to the hospital. Joey saved Abby from a falling chandelier, earning the gratitude of the Abbotts, though Smitty and Martin warned Jack that Joey would eventually want something in return.

Elon couldn’t stop the ever-reckless Jacob from rushing out to the country club despite the roads not being cleared yet. Wedged under a stairwell, Kat assumed the unstirring Eva was simply not willing to help her find a way out until Eva began vomiting up blood.
