Beyond the Gates Weekly Recap, July 13–17: Naomi’s BRCA Decision, Bill’s Health Scare and Leslie Is Back

TL;DR: In the Beyond the Gates weekly recap for July 13th to 17th, 2026, Naomi opened up about her BRCA diagnosis, Bill’s health scare raised new concerns, Dani wrestled with guilt, Eva and Kat found unexpected common ground, and Leslie declared war on Hayley.

Naomi’s BRCA Decision Shakes the Duprees

This week on Beyond the Gates, Dani refused to make any changes to her body to stave off BRCA gene-related cancer after a supportive Andre showed her photos of women living full lives post-double mastectomies. Jacob accompanied Naomi to her consultation with Monica and hid his shock when Naomi added removing her ovaries, fallopian tubes, and uterus to her list of potential preventative measures. Kat and Martin understood when Naomi admitted having kept her BRCA gene diagnosis to herself, but Chelsea was upset, and Madison realized that Chelsea was struggling with survivor’s guilt.

Joey and Deanna Play a Dangerous Game

Joey burned a letter he found amongst Doug’s belongings in which Doug claimed Joey would be responsible if he were to die suddenly. After having another vision of Doug, Deanna set up a dinner with Vanessa and Joey; Vanessa bought Deanna’s apparently accepting behavior toward Joey, but he and Deanna played cat and mouse with each other while at the table.

Vernon Begins a New Chapter

Vernon took a position mentoring political candidates, then arranged for Anita to record with Sharon and Tracy after Anita turned down their offer to go on tour with them. Sharon revealed that she was dating a new man, Marvin.

Bill’s Health Scare Raises New Questions

Madison suspected that Bill had suffered another mini-stroke once he was hospitalized, but she wanted to run more tests. Bill grudgingly agreed to stay overnight for observation; Dani resisted going to see him but found herself checking in on him anyway. Randy was concerned that any deeper exploration into Bill’s blood work could reveal the existence of his and Hayley’s poison.

Tensions Boil Over at the Law Firm

Tomás marked his territory at the law firm when Bill chose Naomi to look after things while he was in the hospital — but Tomás ran afoul of Bill by crying nepotism, reiterating that he was the junior partner, and bucking the idea of taking orders from Naomi, who didn’t even work there. Bill ruffled feathers when he checked himself out of the hospital without doctor approval and went straight back to work.

Chelsea, Kat, and Naomi all blamed Hayley for taking a spa day, not knowing that Bill had shooed Hayley out of his office to keep her from hovering over him.

Kat and Eva Find Common Ground

Kat rejected Chelsea’s idea for her to become a spokesperson for organ transplants as a tie-in to their new Hero purse, though she did greenlight Chelsea’s alternate suggestion to recruit Eva, as long as they didn’t bring up Kat’s connection to Eva’s surgery. 

After Bill held up a mirror to Kat’s complaints about Hayley by criticizing Kat’s continuing unwillingness to cut Eva some slack, Kat went to Eva and thanked her for keeping Tomás in line when he’d shown up to get relationship advice from her. Despite the half-sisters agreeing not to acknowledge their familial relationship, Eva and Kat still appeared to bond.

Smitty Looks Back While Chasing a New Story

Smitty remembered it had been a year since learning Martin had disfigured “Kenneth” and killed his brother trying to save Vernon from a hate crime — and recalled how their marriage had barely survived Martin’s secretiveness. 

Hayley played dumb when Smitty probed her for information about Lynette for his follow-up article about the blood plasma ring; Smitty wanted to focus on Lia and how she’d turned to crime after Lynette had depleted her retirement fund.

Dani and Bill Can’t Escape Each Other

Dani continued to feel guilty about cheating on Andre with Bill and confessed to Pamela, who reminded Dani that the encounter had happened during life-and-death circumstances. Bill fumed when Dani, who had demanded that he stay quiet about their tryst, dropped a hint to Hayley during an argument; Dani insisted that she never wanted to be with Bill again, but Bill still taunted her provocatively.

Leslie Sets Her Sights on Hayley

During a visit with Eva, Leslie flirted with Ted, who argued that he was committed to Shanice and commanded Leslie to stop trying to seduce him. The clash convinced Ted, who’d been afraid to tell Shanice that he was falling in love with her, to finally profess his feelings. After Hayley spurned Leslie’s latest offer of friendship, Leslie declared war on Hayley, who warned that she would be a worthy opponent.
