Beyond the Gates Summary for the week of April 20–24, 2026

Last week in the weekly Beyond the Gates recap, Vanessa and Leslie seemed to strike up a friendship. Nicole promised Joey would answer to her if he hurt Vanessa, who was happy when Joey defined them as partners. Vanessa used the moment to again push to take part in Joey’s businesses. Despite Anita having reservations about her relationship, Vanessa happily took Joey up on his offer to bring personal items to his condo and snapped a photo of them together for his mantel.
Dani expressed her hurt to Andre and Naomi after Chelsea was blunt about not wanting to work with Dani again. Tomás extended Kat’s birthday celebration with a night of salsa and an invitation to meet his family in Puerto Rico. Vernon found out that his worrying memory problems were only caused by a lack of Vitamin D.
Martin stopped short of saying that he still had nightmares from protecting Vernon during the hate crime perpetrated against them. Acknowledging Martin’s ambition to run for the Senate, Vernon mused that those who knew about Martin’s lethal defense were likely to stay quiet, but when Nicole found out about Martin’s plans, she was adamantly against them. Ted wasn’t ready to take things to the next level with Shanice, who let it roll off when Nicole interrupted a moment with Ted to talk about Martin. Both Shanice and Ted decided that they were working toward something real. When Smitty was pissed off that Martin had gone to others about his potential Senate run before him, Martin called Smitty on his hypocrisy, given that Smitty had consistently been tight-lipped about the investigation he was working on.

Tomás learned that Lynette had left town—and that the last person to interact with her had been Vanessa. Hayley began poisoning Bill again, while Bill couldn’t understand why Lynette had suddenly disappeared when she had been in the process of buying a penthouse. Hayley pivoted by making an issue of Bill calling Dani “baby.” With Lynette’s history of embezzlement, Bill had his finances monitored and learned that Hayley had closed an account set aside for the child they had lost. Hayley claimed it was too painful to maintain it and that she intended to deposit the funds in their main account. Bill insisted he was happy with Hayley, even when Chelsea voiced her doubts about her.
Smitty saw that Jacob had sustained bruises from Ren’s beating; Jacob’s hand shook as he tried to open a pill bottle. Refusing Jacob’s demand to back off of his investigation, Smitty found out that Rachel Lewis, a co-worker of Grayson’s, had been hired at the hospital despite a record for auto theft. Derek balked when Grayson asked to volunteer at the clinic, though Eva wanted to bring him on, and Ashley raged at Derek for dismissing Grayson.
After Jacob tasked a reluctant Grayson with checking into Rachel, Grayson was brutally stabbed by Ren, which he warned Jacob had been meant as a message for him. Afraid to go to a hospital, Grayson sought out Ashley but continued to bleed in Ashley’s bathroom when Jan arrived and wouldn’t take hints to leave. Grayson told Ashley part of the story of how he’d ended up wounded; nurse Ashley did what she could to treat Grayson but feared that he’d go into shock without proper hospital care.
