Beyond the Gates Recap May 8

Naomi came to visit Smitty, but Martin said he wasn’t home. He made some comments about not knowing what he was working on, but then talked about his campaign.

Naomi also advised Martin not to run for Senate, reminding him that his past could be an issue. Martin said he couldn’t change what happened that night, but it was his calling to serve.

Grayson Gets Immunity

Grayson was freaked out to meet Smitty, but he and Jacob explained everything, and he calmed down. Grayson told his story as well, how he got involved in the plasma ring and why.

Grayson was worried about what would happen to him, but Jacob said he’d protect him. “Just like you protected me from getting stabbed?” Grayson snapped. He told him that he and Ashley broke up.

Jacob got hopeful when Grayson said he’d tell him who his boss was but wanted something from Jacob first: he wanted immunity in writing. Jacob told him his word was good and his dad was the Chief of Police. Grayson wasn’t impressed at how little he’d told him until now.

Grayson didn’t know who The Impaler was, but Jacob figured his boss was very close up the chain of command. Grayson wasn’t talking without his immunity, so Jacob made it happen.

As soon as Grayson got the message, he told Jacob that his contact at the hospital was Lia Whitmore, Chief of Staff. Jacob was shocked.

Dani and Andre Rewrite The Past

Dani overheard Andre on the phone and said it sounded like more than the usual type of photo shoot. She noted he could be a spy and she’d never know. That led to them fantasizing about all the different ways they could have met, and who they could’ve been other than themselves.

Smitty’s Blown Away

Smitty came home, somewhat rattled. He told Martin he didn’t want to talk about work or campaigns, so Martin pushed the furniture apart and made a dance floor so they could practice waltzing for the cotillion.

When he had the chance, Smitty called Jacob, who told him about Grayson and Lia Whitmore. Smitty was also stunned by the shocking revelation that the chief of staff at the hospital was Grayson’s boss in the plasma ring.

Nicole Fantasizes About Her Ex

Nicole and Carlton went for dessert at Orphey Gene’s, where they ran into Sunny Anderson. Afterward, Nicole said she’d rather have dessert in bed so they left.

But once they were kissing on the bed, Carlton was telling Nicole how beautiful she was, and she envisioned it was a shirtless Ted who was kissing up on her. Nicole was startled but didn’t tip off Carlton.

Shanice Rips On Ted

Ted came to the nurses’ station and asked Shanice if she’d like a massage and champagne after work, and she said she would, but alone. Ted was embarrassed and went to his office.

Lia came by the station and privately asked Ashley about her boyfriend. She seemed content when Ashley divulged that she and Grayson were no longer seeing one another.

Later, when Shanice came in to deliver a package to him, Ted asked her to stay so they could talk. She accused Ted of having feelings for Leslie, and wondered how he could have slept with her again after knowing how she is.

Shanice thought that one day, if they had a fight, he could get drunk and sleep with her again. She pointed out he and Leslie would always be in each other’s lives because of Eva, but their bed seemed so crowded.

Lia Is Still A Threat

Later, Ted made a peace offering, and Shanice told Ashley she had to decide what she wanted.

Across the hall, Ren called Lia and told her there was a change in plans for distribution and pickup. She scolded him about making changes but told him there was a loose end she needed to tie up as she watched Ashley.
