Beyond the Gates Recap May 18: Derek Catches Grayson Stealing Blood, Samantha’s Cotillion Festivities Begin

TL;DR: In today’s Beyond the Gates recap, Derek catches Grayson red-handed stealing blood at the clinic, forcing Grayson to admit he’s undercover with Jacob, while Hayley poisons Bill after he pushes too hard about her past, and Samantha has her big reveal in her cotillion gown.

Beyond the Gates Recap May 18

Grayson came to Ashley’s with his important paperwork for him and his mom, and gave it to Ashley. He said it included a financial power of attorney in case something happened to him.

As Grayson told her details of how to care for his mom financially, Ashley freaked out. Grayson told her he didn’t know how things would end for him but needed to know if he could count on her to handle them. 

Ashley told Grayson she believed he was a good person and said she would take care of his mom if something happened to him, but cried that she didn’t want anything to happen to him at all. After Grayson left, Ashley went through the paperwork but then broke down and cried.

The Impaler Might Make a Move

At the warehouse, Ren told “Rashad” that the bosses were moving the operations, and he asked why. Ren noted he was full of questions.

Jacob told Ren he needed the money. Ren sent him to get ready then took a call with Lia, who told him that Grayson was in place at the clinic and bringing the first shipment.

Ren reiterated his concerns about moving, and Lia agreed but snapped that she didn’t need him to tell her anything. When she hung up, Derek arrived to meet her at Uptown.

Lia told Derek she just wanted to thank him for taking on Grayson at the clinic. Derek admitted that he didn’t think he was a fit and still resisted including him on the volunteer roster. 

Lia growled that his argument over it was a big red flag, and she didn’t need his interference being a problem for her. Derek said he wouldn’t let his personal feelings sway his business decisions.

Cotillion Prep Party

At Nicole’s, cotillion prep was underway. Eva came to do hair and makeup, while Dani, Nicole, Chelsea, and Kat were ready to help calm Samantha and Jessica’s nerves. To everyone’s surprise, Anita arrived to be part of it.

While they hung out, Dani asked Chelsea if she could go with her, Kat, and Andre to Tokyo for ChelseaKat’s runway event, and Chelsea told her she would love to have her there. 

June arrived and agreed to go all out with the dress and hairdo from Eva. Anita was happy to be part of it all, and her family felt the same. 

Jessica thanked everyone for letting her be part of it. She said she was originally just appeasing her parents but appreciated being included. Her mom was on a plane from Dubai, and would arrive just in time for the evening events.

Eva told Kat that Martin invited her to cotillion, but she had birthday plans. Kat grimaced when Eva said that Ted already called and wished her a happy birthday.

After everyone was ready, it was time for the gowns and photos on the staircase at the Dupree mansion, per their tradition. They all headed out to go there, but Naomi stopped to check her phone and didn’t have a message from Jacob.

Samantha’s Reveal

At the Dupree mansion, Vernon hosted Tyrell, Smitty, Martin, Andre, and Ted. Martin told Tyrell the men’s pregame was a tradition as well but noted that they wouldn’t be seeing Anita for a while.

In a moment alone, Ted thanked Vernon for being included and reminded him that he was always just a call away if needed.

Smitty got a text from Jacob telling him that the Impaler might move ops out of the DMV. Noting that he was in position for the meeting, he added that he would touch base after.

Samantha’s prep party arrived, and everyone gathered at the bottom of the staircase for her grand entrance, per their tradition. 

Bill Presses Hayley About Her Past

At Uptown, Hayley arrived to meet Bill and found him deep in thought. He didn’t tell her that he was reminiscing about Naomi’s cotillion and Dani.

During their conversation, Bill tried to delve into Hayley’s past, asking her about her life after she lost her parents, but she was evasive. 

Hayley got them drinks at the bar and doused Bill’s with some poison. He continued to press about her past life, and she told him that all she had was an aunt, a cousin, and a former best friend whom she lost contact with. Bill suggested he take her back to Philly so she could show him around and introduce him. Hayley snapped at him about it.

Derek Catches Grayson Stealing Blood

At the clinic, Grayson was about to use the code he’d seen Eva use on the lab lock when Derek came up behind him and sent him to refill supplies for the nurses.

When Grayson returned, he let himself into the lab freezer and started taking the bags of blood and put them in a bag. Derek walked up behind him and asked what he was doing.

Confronted, Grayson tried to explain, but Derek said he was calling the police. “They already know!” Grayson blurted out. He said that Jacob was undercover, busting a blood ring, and he was part of it.

Derek didn’t believe Grayson, but he didn’t care. He adamantly told him he was taking the blood and leaving, and that his life was on the line about it. Derek let him go when Grayson added that if he didn’t play his cards right, Ashley’s life was in danger as well.
