Beyond the Gates Recap May 13: Eva and Izaiah Say ‘I Love You,’ Chelsea’s Livestream, and Nicole’s Conflicted Feelings

TL;DR: In today’s Beyond the Gates recap, love is in the air as Eva and Izaiah profess their feelings for each other. Chelsea successfully hosts a live stream to control the narrative, while Nicole continues to struggle with her feelings for Ted. Smitty shares his theory about Lynette’s disappearance with Tomas.

Beyond the Gates Recap May 13

At Dani’s, Chelsea told Kat what happened at the diner and read the online comments after the “reporter” posted the video. Commenters were saying that Chelsea seemed unhinged and said, “Like mother, like daughter.”

Chelsea called Bill and Naomi and suggested that she do a livestream to explain her side. They agreed, but not to mention the lawsuit and make it seem like the reporter was just out of line. 

Chelsea did the livestream, and it was a success. Bill and Naomi were relieved; Hayley poured drinks. Naomi stayed for a little bit, which Bill appreciated. After she left, Hayley told him she was hopeful to be friends with Naomi again one day.

Eva’s Birthday Dinner

Leslie was surprised when she got to Eva’s and found Ted, Eva, and Izaiah there, and Izaiah was cooking dinner for them rather than going out. Eva was happy with it, but Leslie wasn’t.

Leslie noted that cotillion prevented them from celebrating on Eva’s actual birthday, but everyone else was good with it. Eva noted that she was helping Samantha, her friend, and mom get ready for it, and she was spending the evening with Izaiah.

During the evening, Leslie managed to offend everyone by disparaging Darlene Hawthorne, Izaiah’s dinner, and making other inappropriate comments. 

After dinner, Ted gave Eva a box of presents that he would have given her if they’d been together while she grew up: a teddy bear for when she was little, perfume when she was a teen, and a pillow for when she got her first apartment.

Eva and Leslie were moved to tears at his gifts. Ted suggested that he and Leslie let Eva and Izaiah spend the rest of the evening together, and they left.

Eva And Izaiah Celebrate

Once alone, Eva was surprised that the mentor who taught him to cook was Joey Armstrong. Izaiah didn’t think Ted would be impressed, so he didn’t mention that detail at dinner. Izaiah surprised her with mocha red velvet cupcakes, noting that Andre told him that she’d had a solo cupcake last year for her birthday. He promised she’d never be alone for another birthday again.

Izaiah professed his love for Eva, but told her if she wasn’t there yet, it was okay. “Izaiah Hawthorne, I am falling so deeply in love with you,” she told him.

Nicole Is Still Thinking About Ted

At the club, Nicole told Vanessa about having thoughts of Ted while in bed with Carlton. She said it was probably because of it being her anniversary, but Vanessa asked if she was sure she didn’t want Ted back.

Nicole assured her that she didn’t, so Vanessa suggested that she get him out of her system by sleeping with him. Nicole said it was scandalous enough to have relationships with two doctors, adding that a third would make her “the hospital ho.”

When Nicole went to the restroom, she ran into Ted. He told her about the dinner and she had fantasies of being with him while he spoke.

Meanwhile back at the table, Leslie came in and wanted to tell Vanessa about Eva’s birthday dinner. She warned her that Nicole would be returning any moment. Leslie glowed about the dinner and was hopeful that she and Ted had a chance, if only others didn’t get in the way.

Smitty Questions Tomas About Lynette and Lia

At Uptown, Smitty questioned Tomas about Lynette and her connection to Lia Whitmore. Tomas told Smitty what he knew, including how Lynette disappeared, presumably because one of her victims was onto her. Smitty said he had another idea.

Smitty explained that Lynette had upset a lot of people. He suspected that one of them went after her for it, and she was hurt, not a runaway.
