Beyond the Gates Recap June 8: The Impaler Is Revealed, Joey Reunites With His Sister Heather

TL;DR: In today’s Beyond the Gates recap, Joey comes face-to-face with the Impaler, only to discover it’s his sister, Heather, who makes him a shocking proposition. Meanwhile, tensions rise as Leslie struggles to secure a fundraiser ticket and Vanessa clashes with Dani.

Beyond the Gates Recap June 8

Jacob and Izaiah met at Uptown. They talked about Derek, the commendation ceremony, and the fact that Darlene didn’t like Eva. Jacob advised Izaiah to keep the door open in case Darlene lightened up, but if she didn’t, to protect his relationship.

Meanwhile, Leslie tried asking Eva to get her into the fundraiser dinner, but she wasn’t too keen on letting her loose at such an important dinner for her half-brother. She told Leslie that if she could tell her one of Martin’s policies and explain it, she’d consider asking for a ticket, but Leslie couldn’t.

Eva told Leslie that she wasn’t going to let her embarrass them by using the fundraiser to her benefit. Leslie left, offended, but still intent on getting a ticket. She went to the country club and asked Megan but she said she wasn’t in charge of admissions.

Joey Comes Face-to-Face With the Impaler

At the casino, Joey was surprised to see Randy, but he explained that Vanessa wanted him to come and keep him safe. Joey said he did the right thing. Just then, there was another knock on the door, and Joey braced himself to meet the Impaler. They walked in, wearing a hood, but when it was removed, Joey was stunned. He told Randy to leave.

Joey’s sister, Heather, told him that he was fine to be alone with her — she’d been waiting to be face-to-face with him for a long time, she told him. Once alone, Heather and Joey had a drink and got caught up.

Joey wondered what Heather’s connection was to the man known as The Impaler and if she was his spouse or employee. Heather told Joey that she herself was the Impaler…and he laughed.

Heather Makes Joey an Offer

Heather explained that she’d gotten his message to move out of his territory and assured him that she already had. She said that she’d been living in London but her organization was international and easy to run from anywhere.

Heather wanted to bring Joey in on it, and offered a partnership. Thinking they would complement one another in their styles, she pointed out how Joey didn’t like certain aspects of the job, but they didn’t affect her, so they would balance each other out and make a lot of money.

Joey told Heather he was content with his own operation and not interested in teaming up. Heather accepted his answer and told him she had to go. Joey asked her not to disappear again. Heather told him, almost ominously, that she intended to stay in touch.

Vanessa Turns to Dani for Support

Meanwhile at Joey’s, Vanessa paced and worried about Joey. She called Dani to talk her down, asking her not to bring Nicole, as she needed a friend and didn’t want to be judged. When Dani arrived, Vanessa gave her a tour, and she had a lot of questions about Joey’s personal life.

Vanessa balked at her pressing questions, but Dani leaned in to judge her for her dangerous boyfriend. Noting how scared she was and why she’d called her over, Dani asked about Deanna and Donnell and if she wanted them to visit her there, having to pass some goon in the hallway to get in.

Vanessa told Dani she knew she had good intentions but asked her to leave. She ran off to the bedroom, crying.

Joey Returns Home

Later, Joey came home to a relieved Vanessa and made himself a drink. Vanessa was surprised to learn that he knew Dani had been by, explaining that his guard liked her but worked for him.

Joey told Vanessa that it was rare for him to be caught off-guard. “My sister showed up,” he told her. He didn’t reveal she was the Impaler, and instead lied that he canceled the Impaler meeting when Heather arrived.

Vanessa was scared that he’d upset the Impaler, but Joey assured her all was well, saying he’d told him the police presence was heavy and he appreciated the heads-up.

Ted and Andre Catch Up

At the hospital, Ted and Andre got caught up and told one another how much they cared about Shanice and Dani and their hopes for the future in their relationships.

Dani came by, hoping to grab Nicole for lunch, but she wasn’t there, so she asked her husband instead. Ted told Dani that he’d be taking Shanice to the fundraiser. He was concerned that Nicole had been a little bit off lately and hoped she was okay. Dani assured him that Nicole was just fine and he wasn’t one of her concerns.
