TL;DR: In today’s Beyond the Gates recap, Tomas sought Ted’s blessing to marry Kat, Eva and Kat took their first steps toward recovery, Bill and Hayley argued over Dani, and Deanna surprised everyone by changing her approach to Vanessa.

Beyond the Gates Recap for Friday, June 26, 2026

Hayley Turns the Tables on Bill

At Bill’s office, he tried to tell Hayley that she misunderstood what she saw, and he was turned off by Dani. Hayley scolded him for asking to play out the same fantasies that he did with Dani. She wanted their own experiences, ones he didn’t have with Dani or anyone else.

Bill reminded her he was older and had more experience, but if that’s what she wanted, he was up to the challenge. Hayley suggested that since she was naked under a trenchcoat, she clear the office and take advantage of it all day long. Bill had Caroline send everyone home while Hayley poisoned his drink.

Leslie Announces She’s Moving In With Eva

At the hospital, Leslie announced that she was moving in with Eva. Izaiah and Eva were less than thrilled, and Eva tried to talk her out of it. Leslie was adamant about being there for her. Eventually, Izaiah managed to make a deal that they would take shifts — and she would keep her hotel room.

Kat Gives Kial Her Approval

In Kat’s hospital room, Deanna visited and complained about Joey with her mother. Kat said that she needed to be careful messing with Joey. Deanna insisted she wasn’t scared of him, and thought Joey’s need to please her mother would protect her, anyway.

Deanna said she blew up at her mom the night of the tornado and hadn’t talked to her since. Kat’s advice was to ask herself if she wanted to look back on her life and see that she stayed mad longer than she stayed close with her mom.

By the nurses’ station, Kial told Nicole that he was helping Shanice with some physical therapy, and was assigned to Kat. She was pleased with him and their flirty conversation, and kissed him by the coffee maker — which didn’t go unnoticed by Shanice.

When Kial went to tend to Kat, she had lots of questions for him. He told her how much he cared about her mom and that he hoped to introduce her to his sons, who knew they were dating. Kat seemed pleased by his answers and gave him her stamp of approval.

Tomas’ Proposal Plans Spread Around the Hospital

Ted wanted to go to lunch with Shanice, but she had work to do, so he asked her to set aside an evening. He surprised her by saying how great she’d been through the whole tornado and transplant drama, and that he wanted to make her a special dinner on a yacht. She thought it was romantic but extravagant.

Later, Izaiah approached Ted and said that almost losing Eva had surely put his priorities in check. He said he wanted to talk to Ted about his future with Eva. Nearby, Leslie was eavesdropping, but Nicole caught her and commented that her turned leaf didn’t last long.

Leslie shared that she couldn’t help but witness the heartwarming moment when Izaiah asked Ted for Eva’s hand in marriage. When Nicole saw Ted alone at the nurses’ station later, she said congratulations, but he didn’t know what she was talking about. She explained that Leslie told her about his talk with Izaiah, but he dismissed it.

Ted explained that Izaiah wanted help keeping Leslie out of their relationship and that it was Tomas who asked for his daughter’s hand in marriage. Nicole wondered why it was the first she’d heard of it, but they agreed that emotions were escalated, and Tomas’ proposal was a bad idea. They agreed not to tell Kat, and let her make her own decisions.

Meanwhile, Leslie commented to Izaiah that she knew he was planning to propose but he told her straight up that he had asked Ted to help keep her out of their business. Leslie wasn’t offended but said she’d be bringing up the marriage talk again one day in the future.

Kat and Eva Take Their First Steps

Everyone got involved when Kat and Eva were encouraged to get up and start walking to help with the healing. Using walkers, they had to navigate around the nurses’ station. Before long, they were both overdoing it, trying to outdo the other. They noted that something about the other brought out their competitive side. Looking at Ted and Nicole talking, Shanice said she got that.

Deanna Tries a New Strategy

Outside Uptown, Deanna saw her mom and Joey through the window and seethed. Suddenly, Doug appeared on the bench beside her, and she joined him. He told her she wasn’t playing it right and that she was pushing Vanessa closer to Joey by being so mean to her. Pointing out that Deanna was making Vanessa feel like she needed Joey to feel safe, he suggested she’d catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Inside, Joey suggested Vanessa join him on an impromptu trip to Napa Valley for the weekend. He ordered the jet fired up and asked if she needed to go home and get anything first or if he should have a wardrobe waiting when they got there.

Deanna came inside and threw on a smile when she saw them. Vanessa told her about their getaway and Deanna was excited for her, offering to look up recommendations for a wine and paint night. Surprised, they asked about her support.

Deanna lied and said that since the tornado, she had learned what was important and just wanted her mom to be happy. Vanessa jumped up and hugged her daughter, believing she meant what she said.
