Beyond the Gates Recap June 18: Kat Agrees to Get Tested, Bill Promises Dani To Keep Their Secret

TL;DR: In today’s Beyond the Gates recap, Eva’s condition worsened as doctors warned she might not survive the night without a liver donor. Elsewhere, Bill shocked Dani by admitting he still had feelings for her, and Kat finally agreed to be tested to see if she could save Eva’s life.

Beyond the Gates Recap June 18

At the hospital, Ted and Izaiah had been up all night in the waiting room. Izaiah went to get coffee as Andre arrived, still wanting to test, but Ted said there wasn’t time for the meds to get out of his system to be able to donate.

Andre talked to Ted about Kat’s resistance to help and how she was struggling to help someone who rocked her world. Andre went to get Ted something to eat, and Shanice took his seat. She told him the doctor would be rounding soon and that she’d never seen this side of Leslie.

Ted cried about what he was going through and said he tried to remember the last thing he said to Eva, but he couldn’t. Shanice soothed him with the thought that he told Eva how beautiful she was and that she looked up like Christmas morning.

Carlton came back from surgery and assured Ted he had their practice covered. Ted told him how Kat wouldn’t help. He thought time would’ve healed their wounds, but was finding out, in an astounding way, how unwilling Kat was to budge.

Izaiah Begs Eva Not to Give Up

Izaiah checked on Leslie and Eva, and she told him he could only make positive comments because she believed Eva could hear and feel them. Izaiah convinced Leslie to take a break and said he’d stay with her.

Alone with Eva, Izaiah told her how much she meant to him, and meeting her changed his life. He asked her to hold on for him, and they would do great things together.

Dani Lays Down the Law

Dani went to Bill’s office and told him there were some things they needed to get straight immediately. She went off on him about what happened, but was mad at herself for letting things go that far.

Dani couldn’t believe Bill was arguing with her about ensuring they kept it a secret. She told him that they could blow up both of their marriages if they weren’t careful, but Bill shocked her by asking, “What if I don’t care?”

“Now you’re throwing Hayley over, and I’m supposed to swoon?” Dani mocked. Bill said he loved Hayley, but he also had feelings for Dani. He thought he and Hayley would deal with it if the truth came out.

Dani told Bill that they were the only two people who knew, and if Andre found out, Bill would be dead to her. There would be no more playing nice, as it would be the cruelest thing he could ever do.

Bill told her her own words, that it would never be over between them. He said her words stuck because she was always there. In the end, Bill promised he wouldn’t say anything because he knew he’d hurt her enough.

Chelsea Tries to Reach Kat

At Orphey Gene’s, Kat lamented her pressures to Chelsea, who told her that everything that happened when Eva entered her life couldn’t be changed — but Kat might be her only chance to live.

Chelsea admitted that she tried to donate, but she was the wrong blood type. Kat wondered if she was judging her for not wanting to save someone she hated. Chelsea asked Kat to think about how she’d deal with the aftermath if Eva died, how everyone she loved, like Ted, Martin, and Tyrell, would feel knowing she wouldn’t try to help. “Have you thought about them?” Chelsea asked.

Kat said she looked it up, and the hospital wouldn’t let her donate if it was under duress. She just wished she had someone to talk to who had her best interests and not Eva’s. Chelsea told her she was taking her to that person.

Nicole Gives Kat Advice

At Nicole’s, Kial told her that the kids left a note that they went home. They had a good morning together, and Nicole thanked him for being her hero the night before. Carlton called and told Nicole that Ted had been at the hospital all night, and he thought he could use a friend.

Before Nicole left, Chelsea and Kat showed up. Kat told her that during the tornado, Eva was hurt and needed a liver donor. Nicole assumed she got tested, but Kat told her she didn’t want to be a match. Nicole said she wasn’t judging; she was just sad she was going through that all night without her and gave her a hug.
Kat said she wasn’t the bad person; Eva was, but everyone was looking at her like she owed Eva something. She recounted when Eva told her that one day she’d need her and she’d tell her to go to hell. Kat thought it was that day.

Kat said it was like Eva orchestrated it so that she was in this position, and if she didn’t do it, everyone would hate her. Nicole advised her to take the time she needed to decide, but to take the test so she had the option.

Kat Makes a Life-Changing Decision

Leslie came out of Eva’s room, sat with Ted, and gave him a hug. She was with him when the doctor came with an update. He said that Eva’s blood pressure was down and her heart rate was up. The doctor said if she didn’t get a donor, she wouldn’t make it to the morning.

After they processed the news, Leslie wanted to go with Ted to see Eva but he couldn’t move out of the chair yet. Ted apologized to Leslie and said that when he thought about the man he was when he wanted her to have an abortion, he didn’t know who that guy was. He couldn’t imagine losing Eva now, but Leslie stopped him.

Leslie said that he wouldn’t let her let the negativity creep in. As she comforted him, Izaiah returned and asked what the doctor said.
Before they could answer, Kat, Chelsea, and Nicole walked off the elevator.

Kat told Shanice she was ready to be tested, and everyone nearly collapsed with relief. Ted thanked Kat, and she gave him a curt nod before walking away with Shanice. Chelsea warned them not to get too hopeful, though, as Kat had not agreed to be a donor, and they still didn’t even know if she was a match.
