Beyond the Gates Recap June 10: Victor Newman Endorses Martin Before Tornado Hits

TL;DR: In today’s Beyond the Gates recap, Martin’s fundraiser is marred by Joey’s presence and a storm. While Ashley finds comfort in friends, a sudden tornado warning brings the evening to a terrifying halt. 

Beyond the Gates Recap June 10

At Martin’s fundraiser at the country club, the Abbotts arrived and met the Duprees, and Devon Hamilton and Dani reunited. They introduced Andre and Abby, although once alone, Andre noted that Dani and Devon had a little vibe going on.

Joey’s Presence Creates Tension

Martin noted it was storming and hoped it didn’t keep anyone from coming but Nicole was certain the evening would be a success. Ted and Shanice arrived and greeted them warmly. Joey and Vanessa, however, were not. When Martin and Shonda saw Joey walk in on Vanessa’s arm, Vernon and Ted told them to leave, but Vanessa refused.

Nicole tried to smooth things over with Vanessa by suggesting she and Joey go hang out in the lobby but she refused that as well. Vernon fumed that he needed to distract the press, and Nicole warned that they couldn’t have Joey in any photos with the candidate.

Ashley Struggles With Her Grief

Naomi managed to convince Ashley to get out of the house, but the first person she ran into was Anastasia, who was as classy as ever, and Ashley ran out in tears before she even got into the party. Dani saw the exchange and went after Ashley, telling Andre she’d meet him in the ballroom.

Ashley and Dani went into the bridal suite and talked about her grieving. Dani compared it to her grieving her marriage and being unable to move on until she was with Andre and knew it would happen for Ashley one day as well, and then she wouldn’t be so sad. Ashley couldn’t stop crying, so Dani called Naomi and asked her to come join them.

When Naomi arrived to comfort Ashley, Dani made her exit as she wanted to be present for Martin’s speech. Naomi took her spot and hugged Ashley. When Dani went to take the elevator, Bill was in it. Before they could get back downstairs, there was a crash, and Dani flew across the elevator into Bill.

Mixes and Minglings

Joey worried it was Heather when Leslie arrived in a hooded cape, but realized his mistake when he spun her around. Leslie made her rounds, offending nearly everyone along the way. She managed to control herself when she met Devon, but inserted herself into his conversation with Anita about doing more music-related business with her and the Articulettes. Leslie introduced herself as Barbara’s daughter and said she’d like to be involved.

Kat intervened when a reporter was talking to Eva, who balked at her after, that she could handle herself and to give her a chance. Kyle Abbott offered a glass of champagne to Hayley, who flirtatiously accepted — and swiftly removed her wedding ring. Eva lamented to Izaiah that she wished they’d stayed on his couch, and they planned to go back to it as soon as the speeches were over.

Martin Announces the Tornado Warning

Vernon asked everyone to take their seats so they could begin the speeches. He thanked everyone for coming and introduced their keynote speaker, Victor Newman. Victor touted Martin’s accomplishments and gave his endorsement. Martin joined him at the podium and began his own speech.

Martin said that as a leader, he needed to tell the room something. He said there was a tornado warning and asked everyone to calmly exit the room and go to the interior hall, and to stay away from windows and doors. As everyone filed out, a tornado began to hit and items began to fly as the lights went out and the chandelier swung.
