Beyond the Gates Recap Jan 23: Leslie Threatens Shanice, Derek Horrifies Ashley, Anita collapses

In the Beyond the Gates recap for Friday, January 23, 2026, Anita got real with Sharon, Bill fixed the problem with Tomas, Naomi told someone she had the gene, Leslie threatened Shanice, and Derek went full cringe with Ashley and Grayson.

At the Dupree mansion, Anita told Vernon that she called Sharon to go to chemo with her, and he was getting the day to himself. At the hospital, Anita wanted to get real.

Anita said she couldn’t talk about it the way she wanted to with her family, as it was too hard on them. Sharon agreed to play worst-case scenario with her friend.

Sharon didn’t know what to think when Anita said she’d been looking into her estate planning. She promised that they would all take care of Vernon if the disease had its way.

At Uptown, Pam was with Dani for less than a minute before she knew her BFF had done something she shouldn’t have. Dani confessed she’d been with Bill — and she kissed him.

Pam told Dani she was addicted to Bill. She scolded her for risking her life with Andre for someone who put her through hell and back.

Dani and Pam were talking about finding a new model for a campaign when Izaiah walked in. Pam was going to approach him, but Eva came in, and they got liplocked.

Across the bar, Mona met with Jan, who was lamenting that Ashley was someone she didn’t recognize. She was down on her for her new boyfriend and not telling her.

Mona realized Jan’s opinion came from Derek telling her, and questioned how any of it was Derek’s business. Jan seemed to agree with Derek and was worried that Ashley was rebounding and was unaware of what she was doing.

Leslie came to Eva’s, and they got caught up about their love lives. Eva made the mistake of saying that Ted was seeing someone.

Leslie went off about who it could be, quickly deciding it was Nurse Ratched, and left in a huff.

At the nurses’ station, Shanice told Ashley how she and Ted spent their night…and the middle of the night…and the morning. 

Shanice told Ashley about running into Nicole and how classy Nicole was about it. Grayson approached and asked Ashley to go for coffee.

Shanice was in a great mood and told her to take an early break. Then she got a text from Ted, who was hoping to see her later.

At the office, Bill was fantasizing about Dani returning when Tomas interrupted his thoughts. Bill sat down and told Tomas that he appreciated his hard work and dedication.

Tomas assured Bill that he had his dedication in and out of the courtroom. Satisfied with Tomas’ pledge of allegiance, Bill stood up and poured them each a drink.

Bill said it was early for a drink, but the occasion called for it. He told Tomas he was promoting him to Junior Partner, with an impressive compensation package.

At Orphey Gene’s, Jacob was glad to hear that Naomi had been cleared in her testing. Naomi almost told him the truth, but they kept getting interrupted.

Izaiah came in and joined them. He and Jacob lamented how Elon was treating him like he didn’t trust him anymore.

While complaining about his dad, Jabo mentioned he was going undercover, which surprised Hayley but gave her pause for thought.

Grayson and Ashley went to Orphey Gene’s, and were just starting to chat when Derek came in and saw them. He took a seat at their table and asked what they were talking about.

Derek re-introduced himself to Grayson, who didn’t shake his hand. After an awkward conversation, Grayson and Ashley had to get back to work.

Ashley stayed back to call out Derek. She claimed he tried to sabotage their date and was extra miffed when she realized he was the one who told her mom she was dating someone.

Leslie showed up at the nurses’ station to tell Shanice that she meant nothing more than being a warm body to Ted. She reminded her that they had created a life, and she couldn’t compete.

Shanice told Leslie she was on a break from reality because she may be Ted’s baby mama from years ago, but she was the only one not over it.

Leslie threatened Shanice, so she told her to leave, or she’d get security to take her to the psych ward. Leslie said she’d be back when Shanice didn’t see her coming.

Ashley returned to work and asked Shanice to call Derek and encourage him to date Sheryl. After Shanice left, Naomi came off the elevator. They sat down, and Naomi told her the truth about her test results.

Ashley was encouraging, but Naomi said she was still processing. She shared that she hadn’t told anyone, including Jacob. Ashley promised to keep her secret after she explained why she wasn’t telling anyone yet.

When Sharon and Anita came home, Anita was saying how Sharon serenaded here when she suddenly fainted onto the couch.
