Beyond the Gates Recap February 24: Wesley’s Release, Deanna’s Date, and Donnell’s Rescue

TL;DR: In today’s Beyond the Gates recap, the tables turn on Francesca when Donnell saves the day. Joey frees Wesley Hammer, Kat asks Tomas if she can move in with him, and Vanessa is panicking over Deanna’s “Heart Attach” date with Diego.

Beyond the Gates Recap Feb 24

At Orphey Gene’s, Samantha told June and Kat that she might have an escort to Cotillion. Vanessa texted and said that Donnell was in, and Samantha excitedly announced it.

Kat left to meet Tomas as Samantha and June talked about how she easily shifted into the Duprees’ lifestyle while still staying grounded.

“Pigtails is excited,” Vanessa told Donnell at the country club when she got Samantha’s response. He said he’d take it from there and took her number.

Donnell told Vanessa that Deanna’s friends had her signed up for a local dating service. When he mentioned the name, Vanessa nearly fell off her chair.

Vanessa tried everything to get Donnell to dissuade his twin from using Heart Attach as a dating service, but he only regretted telling her. He changed the topic to Vanessa dating Joey.

Vanessa told him that there was much more to Joey than he knew. She shared how he’d invested in the clinic and was keeping his dad’s name alive by dedicating it to Dr. Douglas McBride.

Hayley Worries The Truth Will Come Out

At the law office, Hayley tried to convince Bill to get Lynette’s case dropped, but he said Tomas was handling it. Before she could press further, Elon called Bill to say that Wesley Hammer had been released.

Hayley was upset, but Bill promised to keep her safe. 

Bill wanted to go see Joey and find out why Wesley was released, but Hayley seduced him into postponing that.

Joey Questions Wesley

At the casino, Wesley Hammer was brought in to talk to Joey. He gave him some 80-year-old scotch, then asked him some questions. Wes said he didn’t attack Hayle,y and someone probably planted her wallet in his pocket while he was sleeping.

Wes told him that just because he didn’t have a home didn’t mean he didn’t have morals. He said he was incapable of hitting a woman. “Do you know a woman named June?” Joey asked.

Wes was amazed that June stood up for him. Joey said he was inclined to believe him, but Hayley’s testimony would count. Wes didn’t know why they chose him.

Joey suggested that he leave town, and said he’d take care of the loose ends. He handed him money and told him to stay clean, warning that if he saw him in DC again, he couldn’t help him.

Vanessa Delays Deanna’s Date

As Wes left, Vanessa came in and told him that Donnell had agreed to escort Samantha. When she told Joey about Deanna having a date with Diego through Heart Attach, her smile faded. Joey teased her a little, then said not to worry, since Deanna was of age and finding her way, as all people do.

Vanessa called her daughter and asked her to join her and Donnell for dinner. Deanna agreed, which bought Vanessa some time with her daughter’s Heart Attach date.

Donnell To The Rescue

When Francesca came into Orphey Gene’s, she gloated that she would do better at the cotillion than Samantha. Realizing June was Samantha’s mom, she looked down on her too, and took swipes at her past. 

At just the right moment, Donnell came in and hugged Samantha, said a warm hello to June, and whisked Samantha away to a booth as Francesca’s jaw dropped. 

Samantha seemed smitten with Donnell and the way he rescued her from Francesca. They bonded quickly, talking about each others’ lives, and he shared his feelings on his dad’s death.

Behind them. Wesley came in to thank June for standing up for him with Joey. She wanted to catch up, but he was in a hurry to leave.

Kat Surprises Tomas

Kat met Tomas at Uptown, and after hearing about his worries that Hayley was gunning for him, she agreed to spend the night. Tomas was surprised when she asked if he was ready to make that a permanent thing.
