Beyond the Gates Recap February 18: Randy Gets New Orders, Carlton Rejects Nicole, Grayson Lashes Out

TL;DR: In today’s Beyond the Gates recap, Hayley has a conflict with Tomas, which leads to a secret assignment for Randy. Dani makes sure Nicole is okay with her new friend, and checks out her latest Febreeze scent. Meanwhile, Carlton tries to play hard-to-get with Nicole, and Grayson takes his frustrations out on Ashley.

Beyond the Gates Recap

At Bill’s office, Hayley ranted to Bill about being mugged and how she had her ring stolen. She had a black eye, but was tired of being scared that the mugger was lurking when it was random, and he had probably moved on. Hayley wanted to get back to work.

Bill called Joey and asked for a favor. He told him about the mugging and thought the guy couldn’t sell the ring without someone knowing. Joey promised to get the guy once Bill promised to be in his debt.

Tomas saw Hayley, and she told him about the mugging. Tomas said if only she hadn’t brought the papers to Lynnette, it might not have happened. Hayley snapped that he seemed to have an issue with her taking the papers for him.

Tomas told her they had a protocol for a reason, and getting close to clients was frowned upon. He suggested she tell him next time. Hayley went off on him and threatened his job for speaking to her.

Bill said he shouldn’t have gotten her to come to the office and didn’t like seeing Haylye upset. He called in Caroline and asked her to take Hayley back to the hotel as he didn’t like seeing her upset. She secretly grinned to herself as they left.

Sisters Unite Over Exes and Febreeze

Febreeze and Nicole on Beyond the Gates | Photo: CBSDani went to see Nicole at her office, and after admiring her newest scent of Febreeze, she said she’d done something, and Nicole might be in the line of fire. 

Dani told her sister that she was out with Ted and Shanice the night before, and she might be a keeper. Nicole said she wasn’t expecting they would be so great together, but she liked Ted and Shanice as a couple and was fine with it.

Dani took delight in telling her sister about her confrontation with Dani and Leslie. She mentioned how much she liked Shanice and wanted to spend more time with her and Ted, as long as Nicole was fine with it, and she was.

Dani noted that Nicole was enjoying the single life, but was curious if she had to kick one out of bed, it would be Kial or Carlton. Nicole said they both filled different needs.

Ashley Researched For Nothing

At the hospital, Ashley showed Grayson a file she’d made with a deep dive research into facilities for his mom and the treatment she could get there. Grayson was appreciative but said it was useless.

Grayson got irritated, and Ashley apologized for overstepping. Grayson said when it came to his mom, he had it covered and stomped off.

Later, Carlton bemoaned his love life to Ashley. She told him that the only advantage Kial had over him was that he was new. She suggested he make himself less available — not to make Nicole jealous but to make her curious — because he came across as eager.

Grayson returned to the nursing station and told her he was a grown man who didn’t know how to take care of his mother. He said the side jobs, extra shifts, and spending every possible moment with her weren’t enough.

Grayson apologized for taking his frustrations out on Ashley. She understood and gave him a hug.

Shanice Collects Intel

Ted and Shanice had breakfast at the diner, and Ted apologized for Leslie putting a mark on their Valentine’s Day. He promised she wouldn’t be part of it next time, but felt it was a nice V-Day gift to see Shanice send Leslie packing.

Shanice and Ted were going to get going, but Derek came in with someone, and it seemed like a date, so she ordered a coffee to hang out a bit.

Ted called Carlton and asked if he could cover for him with his patients so he could spend more time with Shanice, who had the day off. Carlton couldn’t, though, as he had to go back into the OR.

Derek lost his smile when his date and coworker told him a work story and then apologized for being insensitive. She told him that no one could fill his shoes or his uniform.

Derek lost interest in his date. After she left, Shanice joined him, and he told her that all she could do was talk about work. Shanice said that if someone took nursing away from her, she’d be lost, but pointed out that he was with a “Fire County hottie” and to give moving on to his new life a chance.

Randy Gets an Assignment

Joey called in Randy and told him about the mugging. He noted that he thought Randy already knew all about it.

Pointing out that it was done in broad daylight and near his territory, Joey knew they weren’t dealing with some criminal savant. He said it wasn’t the typical mugging.

Randy suggested the perp was just passing through, and that’s why nothing was showing up at pawn shops. Joey said that Bill was beside himself because of the violence. “You must be too, given your close, personal relationship with Mrs. Hamilton,” Joey added suspiciously.

Joey told Randy that he thought the ring and the perp were closer to home. “And you’re going to bring them to me,” he said.

Laying Down the Law

Hayley and Caroline got to the hotel room, and she told her how Bill blamed her for letting her deliver paperwork that no one asked her to do. Caroline said that even though Hayley took the punch, Bill was feeling it too.

Hayley and Caroline chatted like girlfriends, and Hayley complimented her for her loyalty to Bill. She warmly told her that she, too, was there to stay.

Back at the office, Bill scolded Tomas for feeling he needed to protect his wife there as well. Tomas clarified that he didn’t feel good knowing Hayley got mugged while delivering paperwork, but that he never asked her to. He said he didn’t realize how close Hayley and Lynette had gotten.

Bill ripped into Tomas about being a junior partner and getting along with people. Tomas apologized but was upset. When he got to the hallway, he called someone and asked to meet.

Mr. Not Right Now

Nicole called in Carlton and told him that she enjoyed every one of his Valentine’s Day texts but they weren’t the same as a date. She asked him to go to the theater, but he had already seen the movie. He said it was a great film and suggested she go see it without him, then went back to work. Outside of her office door, he took a big breath and hoped he was doing the right thing. Inside, Nicole looked…curious.
