Beyond the Gates Recap

At the country club, Nicole met with Vanessa and told her how upset Carlton was at seeing her kissing Kial.
Nicole asked Vanessa if she was a ho, but she laughed at the notion. Vanessa said, “So what if Carlton fills your emotional tank and Kial gets your freak on? It’s no one’s business except the two consenting adults involved.”
Nicole appreciated Vanessa showing her more grace than she did when Vanessa began dating Joey.
Vanessa told her that there was nothing wrong with enjoying herself until Nicole found someone who checked off more than one box. “Is that what you found with Joey?” Nicole asked. “It is,” Vanessa nodded.
Hayley’s $10 Million Mistake

At the hotel, Bill catered to Hayley’s needs. He didn’t want to leave her alone, but she told him she’d be fine and to go to the office.
As soon as Bill left, Hayley called Randy to come to the hotel – and enter through the service entrance.
When he got there, Randy knew instantly the mugging scam Hayley pulled and why. When he found out Lynette was in on it, he asked if she’d knocked all the sense out of her head when she punched her.
Randy blasted Hayley for involving Lynette, having the chief of police track down a fake mugger, and all while Bill’s test results were out of whack.
Hayley insisted that she wanted to trust Lynette. “Then that will be your $10 million mistake,” Randy told her before leaving.
A Friend In Need…

Leslie came to the casino to see Joey, who wasn’t as pleased to see her. She said she needed help with a private matter: Marcel Malone.
Joey was horrified that she was talking to him like a buddy. Leslie wanted to know what Marcel’s soon-to-be ex-wife was like, but he said he had no idea. “Why would I care about your lovelife?” Joey snapped.
Leslie said she didn’t have friends and needed to speak to someone other than her daughter, so Joey suggested a therapist. “Oh, but you burned that bridge when you slept with her husband and blew up her marriage,” he growled.
Leslie chuckled and cooed that they were kindred spirits. Just then, Vanessa walked in and asked if she was interrupting something. Joey explained that Leslie had some questions, but he couldn’t help.
“What a shame, let me see if I can give her some guidance,” Vanessa said. “Be my guest,” Joey told her as he walked out.
Vanessa made it clear to Leslie that unless she’s there on clinic business, not to pop b,y and working with Joey meant working with her.
Leslie told Vanessa to relax, as she had her sights on another power player, then sashayed back out.
When Joey returned, he smiled that he loved seeing Vanessa get territorial. Joey suggested going out on the town for Valentine’s Day, but she wanted a night in.
Vanessa told Joey to trust her and let her plan a night that he would never forget.
…Is a Friend Indeed

Lynette came to the hotel room to see Hayley, who claimed she just wanted to check in on her. When Hayley asked for her engagement ring back, Lynette said she was keeping it.
Lynette told Hayley that she appreciated the pro bono status of her case, but now she needed her to convince Bill to get the charges dropped.
Hayley said she wasn’t Houdini but could try to get a nicer hotel for her. Bill came in and was suprised to find Lynette there.
Suspicious Minds

When Tomás came to the office, he and Caroline told him that Bill was upset. When he came in, he was tense about the mugging.
Bill was just glad that Hayley wasn’t alone and mentioned that Lynette had been there. Tomas and Caroline were confused why she was.
Bill said that Hayley was delivering paperwork and blasted Caroline for using his wife as the office errand girl.
After Bill left for a meeting, Caroline told Tomas that he had the paperwork on his desk to be couriered, and Caroline agreed. They thought it was strange that Hayley would take it upon herself to deliver the papers without saying anything.
Caroline reminded Tomas that Hayley worked there and it was fine for her to connect with clients from time to time.
Tomas reminded her that during the Robinson case, the client only wanted to deal with Hayley, but she was adamant about following the rules.
Tomas said something felt off. He noted that Hayley convinced Bill to have him work on Lynette’s case pro bono.
Caroline and Tomas squabbled about her getting a Mercedes just ‘cuz, and him getting a junior partnership over Pauline, who deserved it.
Getting them back on track, Tomas noted that Hayley seems way more invested than usual with Lynette.
Caroline pointed out that Hayley said she could relate to Lynette, and suggested that since she didn’t have friends, maybe that’s why she was seemingly spending more time with her.
Carlton Gets Called Out

At the hospital, Carlton was taking his frustrations out on Shanice, and Ted overheard. He pulled Carlton aside to call him out.
Carlton admitted he was upset about Nicole. “Do you want to talk about it?” Ted tentatively asked. “Not really,” Carlton grumbled. “Thank god,” Ted sighed.
Carlton told Ted that he was upset but not reckless, and assured him that his patients would not suffer from his distractions.
At the nurses’ station, Shanice thanked Ted and told him why Carlton was upset. “She seems to have that effect on men, wouldn’t you agree?” she quipped before walking away.
Ted and Shanice Kiss and Make Up

Ted took Shanice to his office to talk about what happened the other night. Shanice shared that she’d been with someone who still cared for their ex and didn’t want to be in that position again.
Ted promised he didn’t take Shanice for granted; he thought they were building something special. He wanted to fight for their relationship and for her.
Shanice told Ted that she’d give them another chance and thought the things he told her about what she meant to him were beautiful.
Shanice and Ted kissed and made up before she had to go, as Nicole entered, wanting to set something straight with Ted.
Nicole told Ted that he may have been taken aback by her empowered look, but it was none of her business. Ted said he was surprised, but had no judgment.
Carlton Gets Called Out Again

Out at the nurses’ station, Carlton was back and still grumpy. He had requested OR room #2 and didn’t get it, but Shanice said her hands were tied as it was already booked for an organ transplant.
When Carlton acted like she didn’t book it on purpose, Shanice had enough. She said that, unlike him, she had no problem separating her personal life from her professional life.
Carlton was taken aback when Shanice added to sort his stuff on his own time, because his issue was not with her.
