Beyond the Gates Recap Dec 4: Kat blunders with Samantha

In the Beyond the Gates recap for Thursday, December 4, 2025, Shanice plays Cupid, Kat gets a truth bomb from Samantha, and Anita and Madison tell Chelsea she’s wrong.

Anita went to the police station and asked Elon to watch Leslie as she was harassing Laura. Elon called over Marcel and asked him to supervise Winterfest and make sure that Laura was safe from Leslie. Marcel said it would be a pleasure.

At the hospital, Leslie took Peaches for a little walk, pushing her in her wheelchair ,but became alarmed when she had a coughing fit. She asked the doctor about the clinical trial, and he said they should be able to start next week. 

Turned out that the person Samantha called from the diner was Eva, who came to see her as requested. She told her new aunt that she appreciated how Eva never talked down to her and needed a woman’s perspective, living in a house of men. Then, Samantha said she needed money. 

Eva was shocked when Samantha asked if she could wire her thousands. Eva thought she was in trouble, but Samantha revealed she had an idea to start a free clinic. Samantha explained that she’d been told how Eva and her mom helped someone in need and hoped she’d want to do it again on a bigger scale.

Kat came in and saw them talking and overheard “birth control,” although they were talking about all the needs that people would have use for at a free clinic. Kat quickly interrupted and told Samantha to stay away from Eva, as she would lead her astray. Kat chased off Eva by being unwilling to listen to what they were really talking about.

Kat sat down and said that Samantha would understand when she was older. Samantha took her aback when she said that she never wanted to be the age when you’re mean to people and wreck things for her before knowing anything that’s going on.

Kat wouldn’t apologize and said she was the voice of reason. She thought Eva was trying to take advantage of her. Samantha said that she heard two random words and went off, then showed her the talking points she’d made for her pitch to Eva to open a free clinic. 

Samantha said that Eva didn’t pat her on the head and tell her to talk to someone else. She said that Kat had changed and whatever was wrong, she hoped she fixed it because she wanted her old aunt Kat back and wanted her to be happy.

At Uptown, Kat and Tomas met with Madison and Chelsea. Kat raved about their Thanksgiving trip out of town, while Madison seethed about their holiday. She said her big mistake was letting Chelsea anywhere near her mother. 

Madison told them how Chelsea took her mom’s side instead of hers, by explaining her to Madison as if she was new. Kat and Tomas left them to argue after it got awkward. Madison made it clear to Chelsea why she was upset. She said she escaped her mom’s crazy long ago and wouldn’t let Chelsea bring her back, then walked out.

In her office, Nicole was practicing her Winterfest speech when Carlton called and told her that because of a family issue, he had to go out of town and would miss the gala. Nicole mused that her non-date self-actualized.

Shanice came in, and Nicole told her about her issues du jour: she couldn’t get her speech perfected, and Carlton canceled as her plus one. Nicole thought everyone would talk about how she arrived alone at the gala. 

Shanice asked Nicole for her thoughts on blind dates. She knew someone who might be right for Nicole, and she said she’d think about it. Shanice agreed and walked out, but quickly got to texting in the hall. “While you’re thinking, I’ll go ahead and get the ball rolling,’ Shanice said to herself.

Anita came to see her daughter and told Nicole that her test results had just come in. Leslie interrupted, desperate for Nicole to help Peaches hang on until the clinical trial began. She wanted Nicole to talk to her.

Nicole agreed, so Peaches was brought to see her. Once alone, Nicole gave Peaches encouragement for her clinical treatment, and to let Leslie spoil her. Leslie and Eva came in and Nicole told them that Peaches agreed to do the clinical trial. Leslie thanked her but Nicole said she did it for Peaches…and Eva.

In the hall, Tomas ran into Madison and she told him that things didn’t end well at Uptown. Tomas advised her to give Chelsea a chance to make things right.

After, he ran into Eva and she told him about Peaches. Tomas gave her some supportive words before she left. Down the hall, Leslie bumped into Marcel, and he was sympathetic to her situation with Peaches. 

As Nicole left, Shanice told Nicole that she hoped she didn’t overstep, but she had already placed the call to her potential blind date. Just then, the elevator door opened, and Shanice smiled. “Dr. Rawlins!” she said. Nicole turned around and looked, and seemed to like what she saw.

Chelsea called Anita to Uptown to tell her about her fight with Madison. Anita told her that she was in the wrong. Anita told Chelsea the story about meeting Vernon’s mother and how everyone warned her about her but she seemed nice. Anita said it didn’t matter what the story was, she had to respect Vernon’s feelings. She said Madison didn’t have to get it, she just had to support her.
