Beyond the Gates Recap April 27: Dani Drops a Lynette Bombshell, Ashley Steals Meds for Grayson, Lia Suspects Ashley Knows

TL;DR: In today’s Beyond the Gates recap, Ashley breaks the rules to help Grayson as Lia watches them both closely. Naomi’s suspicions of Hayley escalate when she sees Bill choke and Hayley ignores it. Dani drops a bombshell on Tomas about seeing Hayley and Lynette together before the mugging, suggesting a secret connection between the two women.

Beyond the Gates Recap April 27

Ashley woke up and didn’t like Grayson’s fever. While she pleaded with him to get help, his phone kept buzzing. “Who is Rashad?” she asked.

Grayson said she was safer not knowing, but she wanted him to trust her. Ashley told him that she was going to the hospital to get him some medications.

As soon as Ashley left, Grayson took Rashad’s call. He said he’d been stabbed and was staying somewhere safe.

Jacob warned that Grayson better not be at Ashley’s. He said that if he didn’t show up for the drop that day, they’d both be dead.

Nicole and Kial Connect

At the club, Nicole told Kial how she’d been fantasizing about him while he was out of town. After plenty of teasing, she said she was also curious about his conversation with Carlton.

Kial told Nicole that he and Carlton took their competition to the basketball court, where it was a tie. “Imagine that,” Nicole quipped.

Nicole and Kial talked about their sons, and Kial mentioned that he looked forward to meeting Martin. Likewise, he wanted Nicole to meet his sons, Connor and Noah, the next time they were in town.

Smitty Digs For Info From Shanice

At the nurse’s station, Smitty came to talk to Ashley, but Shanice said she wasn’t in. He asked to speak to her instead and said he was there to ask about blood and plasma.

To cover for himself, Smitty said he’d been told something by someone named Rachel Lewis. Shanice corrected what he’d been told and dismissed Rachel for being a fairly new employee.

As Smitty left, Ashley came to work, but Shanice peppered her with questions about her date with Grayson and why she was in on her day off. Ashley covered by saying that she’d swapped a shift.

Lia Sees Everything

Grayson showed up in the elevator to do the drop. Jacob told him again to leave Ashley out of it, but he said that he’d never endanger her. 

When he got off the elevator, Shanice noticed that Grayson didn’t look too good. Ashley appeared, and they laughed that they had too much wine. 

Ashley went to the medicine cabinet and stole some for Grayson. Behind her, Lia appeared and said she wasn’t supposed to be at the hospital that day.

Ashley gave her the same excuse about swapping a shift and having the days mixed up, but Lia said since she was there, they needed her.

Ashley discreetly gave Grayson the medicine while hugging him, then told him to go to her place to take them. Grayson balked that he couldn’t risk leaving, and they couldn’t be talking about it there. Ashley realized that the person who was watching him worked at the hospital.

From the elevator, Lia ordered Ashley to go see a patient as Grayson announced he was going to the lab. Grayson got on the elevator, and Lia warned him that Ashley better not know anything, but he said he wasn’t that stupid. Unconvinced, Lia told him to go home, and she would keep an eye on Ashley.

Bill Chokes, Hayley Ignores It

At the law office, Hayley brought Bill a Caribbean meal on a silver platter. She said it was a taste of St. Bart’s.

When Hayley said where she’d gotten, Bill started to choke. Hayley did nothing to help him, and Naomi came in instead and asked if he was okay.

After Bill was fine, Naomi blasted Hayley for her inaction. She was even more suspicious when Bill said she’d gotten the food from Capital Grove, which is in a dangerous neighborhood.

Bill and Naomi both questioned Hayley when she commented that they never had to worry about Lynette again. She blew it off, reminding him that Lynette texted she was leaving town.

Hayley walked out and grumbled to herself that she couldn’t wait to get rid of that family from her life. In Bill’s office, Naomi was upset when Bill asked if she was just on edge because of her marriage. Naomi snapped that he should be looking for signs in his own.

When Naomi left, Hayley returned and told Bill they needed a vacation. He said he was too busy and it wasn’t the time. 

Smitty and Jacob Meet

Smitty met Jacob at the hotel, and they swapped notes on Grayson’s stabbing and Rachel Lewis. They weighed their options for whether they would figure out who the Impaler was and how.

Jacob felt the walls closing in, but Smitty could feel the big reveal coming. Jacob said that it felt like there were only two possible outcomes: Smitty’s story saw the light of day, or Jacob wouldn’t. 

After Smitty left, Jacob called Naomi to let her know he was doing everything he could to get home to her. “The closer you get to your goal, the higher the risk…for all of us,” Naomi told him.

Tomas Quizzes Vanessa About Lynette

Tomas saw Vanessa at Uptown and told her he wanted to ask her about something that was “sensitive.” She invited him to join her, and he asked about Lynette.

As Vanessa was telling Tomas what she had lost out on with the penthouse, Dani came in, overheard, and insisted on joining the conversation. When Tomas explained that he was investigating Lynette for Bill, who suspected she took advantage of Hayley’s generosity, Dani balked.

Dani told Tomas that there was no way Hayley was capable of doing anything out of the goodness of her heart. After some talk about her, Dani realized that she’d met Lynette.

Dani told Tomas about her run-in with Lynette and Hayley at the cafe in January or February, and he noted that it was before the mugging. “Now you have my attention,” Dani said. She told Tomas that whatever he found out, she wanted to know about it.
