Beyond the Gates Recap April 17: Dani and Bill Get Cozy, Vernon Seeks Help

TL;DR: In today’s Beyond the Gates recap, Bill and Dani get flirty, while Kat intentionally provokes Eva by flirting with Izaiah. Naomi tends to a bruised Jacob, who is determined to continue his dangerous mission. Plus, Vernon seeks a confidential appointment with Madison to address his health concerns.

Beyond the Gates Recap April 17

Vernon surprised Anita with a couple of balloons to burst, filled with Mardi Gras-colored confetti. He said he knew how upset she was about having to miss the festivities this year and wanted to celebrate her second-to-last chemotherapy session.

Dani And Bill Are Sweet To One Another

Dani ran into Bill while waiting for Pam at the club. As they got caught up, he told her he was thrilled by her phone call and Anita’s good news. “So thrilled that you called me ‘baby’?” she asked.

Bill dismissed his verbal fumble and said that he didn’t even realize he had done it, and Hayley never mentioned it. He said that Andre let him know and found it interesting that Dani didn’t know it bothered him.

Pamela couldn’t make it but had prearranged to have champagne sent for her and Dani’s anniversary working together, and there was a card addressed to her ‘work wife.’ 

Bill helped Dani drink it and toasted to Dani for recreating her career. Dani told him that he was being sweet to her and sweet on her; she said she could get used to this version of him.

Dani thought it was great of Bill to redo his will to ensure that Hayley could take over his law business if something happened to him. She said that gave her an idea.

An enthusiastic Dani called Pam and suggested she carry ChelseaKat bags during her big launch for Tatum’s line. Pamela thought it was a horrible idea, and when she hung up, Bill agreed.

Dani still thought it was a good idea, said she’d talk to Chelsea about it first, and then pitch her idea to Tatum.

Kat Gets Under Eva’s Skin

Izaiah was waiting for Eva at Orphey Gene’s when he saw Kat. He told her Eva was running late, so Kat said she would join him and promised to behave.

Izaiah thanked Kat for including him and Eva in her birthday celebration. They were talking and laughing when Eva walked in. 

Eva was taken aback to see Kat with her boyfriend, and immediately became a little extra with her hands, tone, and words, reminding Kat that Izaiah wasn’t available. Kat did the same, being just a tad flirty to get under someone’s skin. 

Once alone, Izaiah encouraged Eva to get along with Kat and was hopeful they would get there one day. He told her she had no reason to worry as he wasn’t going anywhere.

Naomi Sees Jacob in pain

Naomi met Jacob at their motel spot, but freaked out when she realized he was bruised and hurt. Jacob hated that she was scared, but he was determined to do the job he believed he was meant to do.

Naomi nursed Jacob’s injuries, as he told her he was in a position to protect vulnerable people in their community and more. He asked her not to ask him to stop, noting that he was in way too deep to turn back now.

Naomi and Jacob cuddled on the bed for a while until he got a text and said he had to leave. Naomi cried that he couldn’t leave and clung to his arm. 

Naomi asked Jacob to promise her that it wasn’t possible he was walking into a trap but he couldn’t say that. She cried as they said goodbye. 

The Lawsuit Is Stressing Out Madison

Madison and Chelsea met at the cafe, and Madison was disturbed by the side eyes she was getting at work about her lawsuit. She didn’t appreciate the advice to just ignore it.

Madison vented that she couldn’t ignore it when she had so much paperwork to file and things to do for it that all she could do was think about the lawsuit, and everything she could lose because of it.

Madison noted that Naomi and Bill were going to contact her mom and let her know she’d been named as a witness — and that she had to take the blog down. She doubted she would do it, though.

When Madison apologized to Madison for it affecting ChelseaKat, she promised that her family had her back.

Vernon Gets A Consultation

At the hospital, Vanessa told Nicole that just because she wanted Joey didn’t want her other friends, too. She told Nicole that she and Joey had something in common: they were both very important to her. Nicole and Vanessa had a flashback to when they first became friends.

When Anita and Vernon arrived for chemo, they greeted them and then Vernon told Anita to go get started, and he’d be in shortly. Vernon found Madison and asked to make an appointment with her because he’d been noticing some things lately and wanted to be sure he was okay, so he could focus on Anita.

Madison said that his diet, sleep, and stress levels were out of whack and could contribute to anything he was experiencing, but she would check him anyway. Vernon made it clear that he was speaking to her as his doctor and not Chelsea’s fiancé; he expected her confidence.

Vanessa and Nicole Hash It Out

Meanwhile, Nicole told Vanessa that she had no business judging her for how she was choosing to live her life. “Thank you for saying that,” Vanessa said, surprised. “It is not worth fighting with my best friend just to be right,” Nicole added.

Vanessa told her that when it came to Joey, she wasn’t right. Nicole said she wanted Vanessa to be fulfilled, but still worried. She made her promise that if she was ever in danger, she would reach out to her or someone else that she trusted.

Vanessa assured Nicole that she was not in danger and wouldn’t be, but promised her what she had asked for. “Then we have a deal,” Nicole said. She stipulated, however, that no more double dates.
