Beyond the Gates Recap April 16: Nicole and Vanessa Clash Again, Ren Roughs Up Jacob, Lynette Disappears

TL;DR: In today’s Beyond the Gates recap, Randy tells Hayley that Lynette is no longer a problem and uses Lynette’s phone to message Vanessa. Meanwhile, Naomi confronts Dani about her affair with Bill, which Andre and Dani surprisingly laugh off. After a call from Lia, Ren beats up “Rashad” for changing the drop spot, and Vanessa tries to mend fences with Nicole after their falling out.

Beyond the Gates Recap April 16

Lia called Ren and warned him that his driver, Rashad, had changed the drop spot, and he wasn’t allowed to make those kinds of decisions. She strongly advised that Ren get control of his new hire before the higher-ups found out.

Ren swiftly found Rashad in the warehouse and asked what he had done. Jacob explained that he was almost seen, so he moved the drop to the stairwell. Ren told him he didn’t get paid to think and laid the boots to him so he wouldn’t forget that he did what he was told — or else.

Naomi Exposes Bill and Dani’s Affair

At Dani’s, Naomi came over and told her mom that she knew she was having an affair with Bill. She explained that she was with Bill when Dani called, and that he’d called her “baby” in front of her and Hayley.

Andre came in and pretended that he was upset at what he’d overheard, but Naomi was confused when they laughed about it.

Andre and Dani explained how they didn’t do jealousy and that they had built a relationship with trust and love that nothing could break. Naomi watched uncomfortably as they canoodled.

The Fairmont Crest Country Club

At the club, Bill and Hayley ran into Nicole, who had no interest in being in Hayley’s presence. When they sat at their table, Bill told Hayley to admit what was troubling her about Lynette.

Hayley danced around the subject but had to make a sudden exit to go to the dentist, she claimed. Bill wanted to drive her, but she bolted, leaving him suspicious.

Across the room, Nicole met with Martin, who updated her about his new security. Martin explained that Smitty didn’t want details when he wasn’t with Martin, as it would affect his work.

Nicole noted that Smitty seemed to be working on something important and that people in that position will sometimes push boundaries to break a story. 

Martin told Nicole that Smitty had sacrificed for him for years, and it was his turn to shine. After Nicole left, Bill joined Martin. He questioned the security guard he had and said that he didn’t like that Martin’s senatorial run would mean greater scrutiny. He warned Martin that he had a vested interest in making sure his past didn’t come back to haunt them.

Martin didn’t like Bill even talking to him, much less acting like he had some say in his life. As they bickered, Andre showed up as planned to meet Martin for lunch and golf. 

Martin lost his appetite but went to meet his golf group. Andre paused to tell Bill that he knew he’d called Dani “baby,” but Bill didn’t know what he was talking about. Bill said it must have slipped out of an old habit, while Andre denied caring. Andre said he wasn’t jealous or insecure, but reiterated that the only man who calls Dani ‘baby’ was him.

Vanessa’s Hard Day

At the casino, Vanessa left another message for Lynette in front of Randy and Joey, warning her that she had to give her deposit that day or they’d lose the penthouse deal. 

When she hung up, Vanessa explained how Lynette was her top buyer but was suddenly ghosting her. Joey comforted Vanessa, and Randy said he needed to take care of something and left.

Vanessa lamented to Joey how everything felt like it was falling apart. From her fight to Nicole, to Deanna, to her top client disappearing, she was bummed out. Joey encouraged her to make up with Nicole and be the first to reach out.

Uptown Girls

At Uptown, Chelsea and Kat had a business call and scored another deal. Kat wanted to celebrate but Chelsea wanted to wait until they had something in writing.

Kat complained that Chelsea couldn’t just let them enjoy the win but Chelsea said Madison’s court case could destroy everything from their business to her wedding.

Behind them, Randy came in and messaged Hayley to meet him. Chelsea and Kat left while Hayley waited til the coast was clear. When she joined Randy at the bar, he said he didn’t want to tell her something over the phone.

Randy pulled out Lynette’s phone and messaged Vanessa from it. Pretending to be Lynette, he said that she’d changed her mind about staying in town and not to call her again.

Hayley asked why he had Lynette’s phone and what happened to her, but Randy said the less she knew, the better. Hayley took the win that Lynette would no longer be a problem.

Nicole Has Questions

At the hospital, Nicole questioned Lia about the data breach, noting she said she didn’t want to report it yet. Marcel questioned her. Lia explained that Marcel was an old friend whom she trusted to investigate discreetly.

As Lia walked away, Vanessa came off the elevator. She told Nicole she wanted to make up, but Nicole repeated that Vanessa prioritized a man she met a year ago over her. 

Vanessa said she’d hoped that her best friend would want her to be happy and loved. She questioned whether their relationship was worth saving if Nicole could only be friends with Vanessa if she was abiding by Nicole’s terms about who she should be, and who she should be with.
