Beyond the Gates: Did Randy Really Get Rid of Lynette — Or Make a Fatal Mistake?

On Beyond the Gates, we have to wonder if things are as they appear when it comes to Randy and a missing troublemaker. Has Lynette truly been removed from the equation, or has Randy’s recent tactical move inadvertently created his own vulnerability?

Beyond the Gates: Randy Eliminates The Problem

Randy (Maurice P. Kerry) has consistently tried to operate with a calculated approach, even if his partner in crime is on another page. Pulling a scam with his cousin Hayley (Marquita Goings) to knock off her husband Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett) to get a ten-million-dollar insurance payout is the plan, but they’ve had some bumps in the road to the supposed easy money. But recently, it seemed Lynette (Dominique Madison) was a mere obstacle he had successfully cleared from their path.

However, experienced viewers recognize that a resolution this tidy is often a misdirection — particularly when it involves messier-than-thou characters like Hayley and Lynette, and the suspicious eyes of Bill and his junior partner, Tomas Navarro (Alex Alegria).

The Pandoras Box

For weeks, Lynette has been applying more and more pressure to Hayley to give her money from Bill’s account to keep her mouth shut that her frenemy is a scam artist with a long list of exes who would verify her claims (if they’re still alive).

Just as the walls were closing in, Randy told Hayley he’d taken care of the issue and that she wouldn’t hear from Lynette anymore. Sure enough, the extortion-laden texts stopped.

The Consequences of Her Absence

Of course, Hayley immediately celebrated that Lynette had presumably been unalived, but she doesn’t really know what fate she suffered. When asked, all Randy would say was that it was better for Hayley not to know the details.

That was good enough for Hayley, but is it really? Having Lynette drop off the face of the earth wouldn’t be so appealing if Hayley knew that Bill had gotten suspicious and hired a private investigator behind her back.

And that private investigator just informed Tomas that Lynette hasn’t used her bank, credit cards, or her phone since her disappearance. Now, Bill might not immediately assume that Hayley would be capable of murder, but he shouldn’t rule out that someone close to her might.

And who is the only one in Fairmont Crest that is close to her? Well, that would be Sammy…er, Randy. Whose mere existence in Hayley’s life raises more questions than he does answers.

A Temporary Win

So, did Randy actually get rid of Lynette in the most permanent way? It is possible.

But in the logic of a soap opera, “possible” rarely signifies the end. Randy also had a deal with Lynette to screw over Hayley for a payout. While we don’t think that Randy would choose his frenemy-with-benefits over his family, something’s definitely off.

Regardless, Randy needs to watch his back. With Bill honing in on Hayley’s schemes, it’s only a matter of time before he has more questions for Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom) about his employee, whom Bill thinks is named Sammy. If he finds out his name is Randy and suspects Joey of lying to him, well, let’s just say if it’s his butt on the line or Randy’s, you know who Joey’s going to choose every time.

If Lynette remains a factor, her eventual reappearance would be highly consequential, leaving Randy directly accountable. But if she is truly gone, the circumstances of her exit could prove just as damaging if Randy’s involvement is exposed in ways he did not plan for  — after all, Joey values his relationship with Bill more than he does his with Randy.

Ultimately, this does not look like a permanent victory. It appears to be the start of a slow unraveling of Randy’s existence, or at the very least, Hayley’s “Kill Bill” plan.
