Beyond the Gates Reveals The Impaler

For months, Beyond the Gates viewers have wondered who was behind the Impaler murders. The answer turned out to be hiding in plain sight.

On June 8, Ashley Jones made her debut as Heather Armstrong, Joey Armstrong’s long-lost sister. In the same episode, viewers learned that Heather was also the mysterious Impaler, bringing one of the show’s biggest mysteries to a shocking reveal.

Joey Has Talked About Heather

Long before Heather appeared on-screen, Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom) painted a vivid picture of the sister he hadn’t seen in years. He described her as ambitious, headstrong, and frustrated that their father refused to allow her a role in the family business.

While Joey was forced into a life he never wanted, Heather was denied the one she believed she deserved. Eventually, she claimed to have left the Armstrong family behind and cut off contact, leaving Joey with only a farewell letter and years of unanswered questions.

The Impaler Mystery Finally Has An Answer

For months, Fairmont Crest residents have lived in fear as the Impaler continued to evade capture. Suspects came and went, theories spread among viewers, and clues pointed in multiple directions.

The final answer was someone viewers had never actually met. Looking back, Joey unknowingly provided several hints about the woman his sister had become. He repeatedly described Heather as driven, determined, and unwilling to accept limitations placed upon her.

He also revealed that she walked away from the family to become the woman she wanted to be. What Joey never realized was exactly who that woman had become. The mystery surrounding Heather’s whereabouts suddenly takes on a very different meaning now that viewers know what she was hiding.

What Happens Now?

The reveal may be even more devastating for Joey than for anyone else. For years, he held onto memories of the sister he loved and respected. He reread her farewell letter annually and honored her request not to search for her.

Now he must reconcile those memories with the reality that Heather was living a secret life far darker than he ever imagined. The revelation immediately caused Joey to lie to Vanessa, and we suspect that’s a trend that will continue.
