On Days of our Lives, some more key players of the Salem scene are being released from their contracts. While the show rarely comments on contract statuses, a rep has confirmed the changes and that it is part of long-range storylines.

Carson Boatman, who plays Johnny DiMera, will be exiting DAYS, as will Raven Bowen, who plays his wife, Chanel Dupree-DiMera. The two are front burners at the moment, with Chanel being pregnant, and Johnny taking over as CEO at the family business while also working for the Kiriakis company, Titan.

With the DiMeras coming to the forefront again lately, and Johnny and Chanel recently adopting a baby, having the couple leave would come as a shock for most fans.

Additionally, Leo Howard, who plays Tate Donovan, and Ashley Puzemis, who plays his girlfriend Holly Jonas, are also exiting.

As the show films so far in advance, we will likely still see both couples for most, if not all, of the year. There is no confirmation of a recast, but new faces will be seen in Salem soon as Alice Halsey (Rachel) will have a new actress appearing in March, as will Marissa Reyes’ Ari Hernandez in April.

Also in April, Conner Floyd (Chance, Y&R) will start being seen as Chad DiMera as Billy Flynn went to The Young and the Restless to play Cane Ashby. Additionally, Javi Hernandez is being recast, but there is no confirmation yet on who will replace current actor Al Calderon.

Boatman shared with The Daily Mail, “I have nothing but love and respect for everyone over there from top to bottom,” Boatman says. “The closing of this chapter is bittersweet for me as I’ve cherished every moment spent walking those halls and on the sound stages. A lot of tears, and a lot of laughter have been spilled on all those sets by so many people, including myself. I am genuinely so excited to see what the future holds for me, as well as the show.”
