General Hospital Spoilers & Ringtones: Willow’s Psychotic Break & What Drew Knows

The verdict is in for the audience, even if the jury is still out in Port Charles: Willow Tait is the woman who put two bullets in Drew Cain’s back. After months of speculation and red herrings, and Katelyn MacMullen herself being kept in the dark by executive producer Frank Valentini, the truth is finally out. But the reveal isn’t the end of the story — it is only the beginning.

Willow’s Mental State: Calculator or Casualty?

Actress Katelyn MacMullen confirmed that Willow wasn’t just acting out of simple malice. As she told Soap Opera Digest after the reveal, she may have been “out of her mind that night.” Fans, of course, wonder if Willow’s courtroom composure was a masterful performance or a symptom of a fractured psyche?

If Willow truly dissociated during the shooting, her defense shifts from denial to insanity. We know she stalked an infant and drove a mother out of town prior to the shooting. It’s reasonable to assume Willow is escalating.

When Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) told Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) what they knew, her reaction stunned them when they asked what she was going to do with the new information. “Absolutely nothing,” Alexis said. At the time, Alexis asked them if they really believed sweet, kind Willow was a master manipulator and cold-blooded killer.

Legally, Alexis is in a bit of a bind. Keeping the secret could get her disbarred, and letting the verdict play out could get a killer released, but exposing the new facts could guarantee that she never sees Scout (Cosette Abinante) again. Unless Alexis is not the only one who knows.

Drew’s Obsession with Michael

Before the trial started, Drew (Cameron Mathison) was determined to put himself and Willow on the stand, so Alexis did mock testifying scenarios with both of them. While talking about the night of the shooting, Drew started to tell a detail, but then stopped and later claimed he’d forgotten.

Whether or not Drew was telling the truth is hard to say. But whether he definitely remembers hearing a Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star ringtone when he was shot, or if he has the memory later, is not the question. The real question is what he’ll do with that information.

Is Drew so obsessed with bringing down Michael (Rory Gibson) that he’ll conveniently ignore that Willow shot him? Or will that be the leverage he uses to ensure she doesn’t leave him?

Willow may have pulled the trigger already, but the collateral damage is just beginning.
