The Young and the Restless Recap

At Crimson Lights, Phyllis ran into Billy and noted she hadn’t heard back from him since her offer to make a deal. They took a seat in a booth, where Billy explained to Phyllis that, as a family, they decided to put her on the back burner.
Billy told Phyllis that it wasn’t about her deal to give Marchetti to Summer, and she’d steal the AI program back from Victor. He said that it was just too hard to believe her word, but if she talked to Jack, he might change his mind. Billy advised Phyllis to tell him the truth about what Victor offered her to take the app to begin with. “If you don’t…if you lie to me one more time, this is done,” Billy added.
Phyllis denied her involvement with Victor, then cried how hurtful it was that people thought the worst of her. Billy told her she was annoying. “Victor cut you loose. We’re about to do the same thing,” Billy warned. He said if she didn’t want that to happen, to ‘fess up.
Phyllis tearfully told Billy she was only trying to protect her daughter from the constant battle between her two families. She insisted she had been through so much, just like Billy, and that she understood the importance of wanting their kids to be proud and supportive of her.
Phyllis thought she owed so much to Summer and just wanted so much to do it for her. “I think that’s the most honest thing you’ve ever said to me, Phyllis,” Billy told her. He said he believed her, and if it were up to him, he’d go ahead with the plan, but she still needed to talk to Jack.
Nick met Matt in the park. Nick demanded to know where Sienna was, but Matt said his wife was safe. “But if this little meeting doesn’t go well, who’s to say where she winds up?” Matt teased. After some bickering and insults, Nick got down to business.
Nick offered Matt a million dollars for the safe return of Sienna, on the condition that he took the money, left town, and was never heard from again. He promised that if he came back, the police would be the least of his worries. Matt mocked his empty threats.
“I know you’re dying to hear about how I faked my own death, and humble brag –– it was awesome! But I don’t know if now’s really the time for that,” Matt mused. Matt rambled about how Sienna’s life was hanging in the balance, and Nick was probably on a time crunch. Nick noted that he finally admitted he was Matt Clark.
Nick said Matt was still blaming the Newmans for all of his problems; Matt retorted that Nick still thought he could solve everyone’s problems by throwing money at them. Matt wanted ten million instead. He asked what it was worth to Nick to get rid of him.
Matt pointed out he could’ve taken Noah instead, and then the check would have more zeroes. Matt mocked that Nick was saving Sienna for Noah, and she didn’t care about him at all. Matt ran his mouth until Nick rocked his jaw. Getting punched in the mouth twice made Matt stop for a moment, as Nick went off about how he should dump him over the railing into the ravine below.
Matt laughed at their fight, threatening lives, and being in a position to blame Nick for his injuries or death. He jokingly gave Nick a jab and said it was just like old times.
Matt straddled the railing and threatened to jump so that Nick could be blamed again. Nick dared him to go for it, knowing he’d beat the charges just like before. Nick even offered to help Matt if he needed a push. Matt changed his mind and came back over the railing, and Nick told him to just take the money already.
Matt agreed to take the money. He said that when he got out of the country, he would give Nick the number to an offshore account to deposit the money into. Nick warned Matt that if he ever came after anyone in his family ever again, he would hunt him down to the ends of the earth and kill him. “No, Nick, you don’t always get your way. You do this my way or not at all,” Matt glowered. He told Nick he’d call him, and then walked away.
Jack was surprised when Phyllis showed up at the Abbott mansion. She said she came to give him a belated Christmas gift: his company back. Jack reiterated that they were going in a different direction and tried to show her the door.
Phyllis sat down and tried to get the offer back on the table for Summer’s sake. She said that she was the only one who could get the app back from Victor. Jack refused to tell Phyllis why she was no longer needed, but wouldn’t entertain discussing it. Phyllis reluctantly left; she went to the GCAC and left a message for Michael, asking to meet.
Billy came in and said that he saw Phyllis peeling out of there. Billy told Jack he played good cop, bad cop with her, but now had a tinge of guilt. He said they knew that Phyllis was capable of getting the program; it was just a matter of trusting her over Michael and Nikki to betray Victor. Billy suggested they let all three help and see who comes through.
Jack was surprised when Billy said that he trusted Phyllis the most. Jack asked again if they got the program, that Billy would want to destroy it. Billy said he would, but Jack now seemed unsure. He said that he had a familiar feeling about Billy, and what his complicated brain was thinking.
At Sharon’s, Noah paced, worrying about Sienna. He wished he’d at least have gone with Nick to find Matt, if not gone in his place. Sharon said he would have been signing Sienna’s death warrant as he doesn’t understand Matt’s manipulations.
Sharon tried to get Noah to sit down and have a beer with her, but he wanted to race off to find Sienna. Sharon said she could take one phone call and have 20 people outside to stop him. She warned Noah that his lack of fear of Matt Clark would be his downfall — and not to underestimate his dad.
Sharon tried to make conversation with Noah to get him to relax, but made the mistake of asking about how he and Sienna met and bringing up Allie. Noah got anxious again, and they went back to talking about Matt. Sharon said he was a classic narcissist whose only priority was himself.
Sharon was just telling Noah how it was time for Matt to pay for all the of tormenting he had done to all of them as Nick came in.
Nick told them that Matt claimed Sienna was still alive but said Matt wouldn’t tell them where she was until he was safely out of the country. Noah lost it, yelling that he couldn’t calm down while a madman had the woman he loved. “We can’t just let him leave!” Noah begged. Nick said they had to let it play out.
In a motel room, Matt came in. Annie was sitting next to the bed where Sienna was lying unconscious. Matt told Annie that Nick offered him money, just as he suspected. Matt said he’d take the money but wasn’t sure if he’d hand over Sienna — or if he’d let Noah live.
