If you thought Beyond the Gates couldn’t get any hotter after that explosive first season finale, think again. The rumors have been swirling for weeks, but it’s been officially confirmed that Daytime Emmy winner Jordi Vilasuso has joined the BTG cast for Season 2!
A representative for the CBS soap has officially confirmed the casting news to Soap Opera Digest — and the man himself took to Instagram to share his gratitude, writing “Christmas came early this year! BEYOND grateful to be working with this fantastic cast and crew! Thank you @michelevaljean for bringing me back to @cbstvstudios ! God bless you all for the support and can’t wait for you all to see a great story unfold on @beyondthegatescbs !”
The Promo That Started It All
If you caught the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it teaser for Season 2, you probably dropped your popcorn when you saw Leslie (Trisha Mann Grant) in bed with Marcel (Darryl W. Handy). But the promo gave us our very first look at Vilasuso in action: The clip shows him at Uptown, leaning in for a very passionate kiss with none other than Ashley Morgan (Jen Jacob).
For months, Ashley has been dealing with the fallout of her engagement to Derek (Ben Gavin) and her lingering feelings for Andre (Sean Freeman). Could Vilasuso’s mystery character be the fresh start she needs? Or is he bringing a suitcase full of trouble to the gated community? While CBS is keeping his character’s name and backstory under tight wraps for now, the chemistry in that five-second clip was enough to melt the snow off the gates.
A Daytime Vet Returns
Vilasuso is no stranger to the CBS lineup. We all fell in love with him as the dedicated (and dearly departed) detective Rey Rosales on The Young and the Restless from 2018 to 2022. It was a heartbreaker when Rey was killed off in that tragic car accident, so seeing Jordi back on the network feels like a homecoming.
Of course, long-time genre fans know his pedigree goes back even further. He won a Daytime Emmy for his breakout role as Tony Santos on Guiding Light, and charmed us as Griffin Castillo on All My Children and Dario Hernandez on Days of Our Lives.
