Beyond the Gates Recap Dec 5: Winterfest begins, Tomas has a proposal, Tracy sees Vernon and Sharon

In the Beyond the Gates recap for Friday, December 5, 2025, Winterfest begins, Kat skips out, and Tomas has a run-in with a testy father.

The Beyond the Gates Recap

At the office, Laura and Mona talked about going to Winterfest and avoiding Leslie. Laura insisted she wasn’t intimidated by her.

At the country club, Vernon checked on the final decorations for Winterfest. He talked to Marcel, who assured him that security was in place and that he would keep an eye on Leslie.

In the country club lobby, Tomas ran into Ted and commented that Ted should teach him how to play squash. “Do you think you have time while you figure out which one of my daughters you’re sleeping with?” Ted asked. Tomas insisted he was embarrassed and never meant to hurt Kat or Eva.

Tomas insisted that he loved Kat and had big plans for her. “The kind you share with a father?” Ted asked. He made it clear that neither Kat nor Eva was casual. Ted added that they already didn’t get along; he didn’t need anyone making it worse.

At Nicole’s, she had a makeup artist get her, Kat, and Naomi ready. Kat said she’d been thinking and wondered if they could tell her the truth: was she self-centered? Kat explained that she had another fight with Eva. Nicole reminded Kat that Eva was her sister, but Kat seethed her resentment for her. She couldn’t believe she had to watch Eva walk in on her dad’s arm.

Nicole reminded Kat about all the times she was on Ted’s arm, and Eva is getting one time. Kat said she couldn’t accept it. Naomi told Kat she’d have to work through it because Eva wasn’t going to sit this one out. “Then maybe I will,” Kat told them.

Nicole and Naomi tried to change Kat’s mind, but she doubled down. Nicole pointed out that she skipped out on Thanksgiving and now a family tradition to spite having to see Eva. She said that she just answered her own question. Kat told her mom she’d consider going, but that was all her self-centered self could think about at the moment. When she left, Nicole looked at Naomi, frustrated.

At Eva’s apartment, Leslie brought her a dress to wear to Winterfest. While Leslie fixed her hem, Eva told her about Samantha’s idea and pitched the idea for a foundation to help with a free clinic. Leslie was interested but thought that the first step to social acceptance was for Eva to go to Winterfest.

Ted arrived with a gift for Eva: a shawl by Forrester Creations. Ted invited Leslie to ride with them but she declined. Leslie thanked Ted for bringing Eva to Winterfest and into his life. “Long overdue,” Ted smiled.

Anita hosted Sharon and Tracy, and they talked about working with Devon Hamilton and how important it was to have a producer you can trust. They looked forward to the day that Anita and Barbara’s voice would be part of their recordings. While Sharon gazed at a photo of Vernon and Anita, Tracy said how she’d been so MIA lately that it was like she had a man in her life.

Anita told her fellow Articulettes that Leslie was Barbara’s daughter. Anita said that she’d cut off the trust fund she’d been contributing to, but Leslie had amassed a fortune. Vernon came home as Sharon was in the foyer. He asked if they were alone, but before she could answer, Anita breezed by and kissed him as Sharon gave him a look.

At Orphey Gene’s, Jacob quizzed Izaiah on his new job and if he was applying himself properly. Izaiah noted that Elon didn’t need to be there to feel his presence. Jacob didn’t like being compared to how their dad talked, so he asked to reset the conversation, but when Izaiah mentioned his interest in Eva, Jacob snapped that he told him to stay away from her. “Or is that the appeal?” Jacob asked.

Izaiah wondered why he had to follow suit based on Jacob’s in-laws’ opinions. He wanted to trust his instincts about Eva instead.

Jacob tried to diffuse it again and invited Izaiah to Winterfest. He told Jacob he’d leave the social climbing to him. Jacob tried a few times to convince him. On his way out the door, Jacob turned and said, “Oh, by the way, Eva’s going to be there with her dad. See you there.”

Kat got Tomas to meet her Uptown and told him that she wanted to skip Winterfest. She told him that her mom called her selfish and confirmed she was self-centered. Tomas said she was just hurt and adjusting to a new place in the world. Tomas said she had defined herself as Ted’s daughter, and now that role was being shared. Kat liked what he said and suggested they go home and fool around.

Tomas told Kat that he didn’t want to wake up one more morning without her face next to his. He asked her to move in with him.

The Duprees arrived with Sharon and Tracy. Anita saw Mona and Laura and pointed out Marcel, whose “only job” was to keep an eye on Leslie. Sharon and Tracy asked if Vernon could be any more in love when they were kissing again, but Anita called it being proactive. “Have you seen the way these women look at my husband? They are shameless!” she said. “I know the type,” Sharon mused.

Jacob and Naomi arrived and were lovey-dovey until Jacob spotted Marcel. He went over and demanded to know why he was there and not a rookie. Marcel told him that it wasn’t beneath him to be paid to attend a Dupree party. Behind Jacob, Marcel watched as Leslie walked in.

Leslie saw Marcel and purred that she was happy to see him. In the lobby, Eva saw Izaiah come in and was thrilled he was there

Jacob and Naomi canoodled at a table and agreed that couples therapy did wonders. Meanwhile, Tracy noticed when Vernon and Sharon slipped off to the bar together, where they commented how hard it was to get a moment alone with everyone around.
