Beyond the Gates: Will Kat’s Web of Lies Cost Her Winterfest with Tomas?
On Beyond the Gates, the Winterfest gala is the event of the season, and securing the perfect “plus one” is almost a competitive sport — if you can get an invitation.
Winterfest Woes on Beyond the Gates

On Beyond the Gates, Kat Richardson (Colby Muhammad) takes appearances seriously. She’s all about the tradition of being one of Fairmont Crest’s princesses, and being seen with the right man on her arm is a standard that she strives to live up to.
Naturally, she’ll want to arrive at Winterfest with her boyfriend and rising legal star Tomas (Alex Alegria). But her recent lies might have put her relationship with Tomas and her being seen at her favorite gala of the year in jeopardy.
The upcoming explosion of truth revolves around a Thanksgiving deception that could come crashing down thanks to an awkward run-in between Tomas and Kat’s father, Ted.
The core of the conflict lies in Kat’s deep-seated animosity toward her half-sister, Eva. The tension reached a boiling point over Thanksgiving when Ted asked Kat to spend the holiday with him and Eva. To Kat’s horror, even her mother, Nicole, sided with Ted, agreeing that it was time for the family to blend, or at least tolerate one another.
However, the narrative Kat spun for Tomas was vastly different from reality: Kat painted herself as the martyr. She lied to Tomas, claiming she desperately wanted to “do the right thing” and get to know Eva, but was overwhelmed by the pressure of choosing between her separated parents, both of whom supposedly were clamoring for her presence. It was a brilliant performance of the “torn daughter” trying to heal family wounds.
Tomas fell for it. Believing he was saving Kat from an impossible emotional choice, he whisked her away for a private celebration, inadvertently rewarding her bad behavior. He believes he is dating a woman who values family unity; he is actually dating a woman who is actively avoiding it.
But is Kat’s reckoning coming? When Tomas talks to Ted, the conversation will likely start with Tomas apologizing for taking Kat away, perhaps praising her desire to bond with Eva.
Will Ted tell Tomas the truth that Kat didn’t want to know Eva, and there was no “choice” between parents because Nicole and Ted were on the same page?
Once Tomas realizes that Kat used him to escape her responsibilities and lied about her intentions, the Winterfest gala will be the last thing on his mind. Kat wanted a romantic hero, but she may have just uninvited herself from the ball. Forget the glass slipper — this princess might find out the hard way what happens when you throw a stone in a glass house.
